I've done a little reading on lean six sigma (and now know enough to be dangerous) and wondering if the methodology places its primary emphasis on the optimization of existing processes, or if there is also a key element of process redesign inherent to the methodology. That is, when evaluating existing processes, does LSS allow for completely redesigning the process, or does it focus on merely making the existing process more efficient, even if said process has inherent flaws? I can see how it can be applied in the design of a new process.
