I've just caught a squirrel who has been noshing on my extension cords and insulation. How far away do I have to take him into the forest so he won't find his way back? (I live out in the country.)

I'm about to remove an old bathtub to put in a fancy new one and of course the first step is to get the drain out. I have the proper tool that fits down inside the drain and is supposed to let you turn it out with a wrench but the last time I tried this, the "spokes" inside the drain all broke and I had to take it out in little pieces. Does anyone have some suggestions to avoid such a disaster this time?

Pump came on this morning pumping only air. Yesterday, pressure was 10 psi; today it's 3 psi. Replaced the big filter. Cleaned 2 basket filters. Took motor off and cleaned a few bits of grass from the pump impeller. Reassembled with gasket dressing on all gaskets. Filled primer/basket filter with water. No apparent leaks. Pool is full; Skimmer sump is full and clean. It's a Hayward pump; 1.5 HP; can't read model number. It's just a 7500 gallon pool. Motor is running but the pump won't prime. Any ideas on what I should try next?

At this time of year in SW Florida we see our guests from the northern states and Canada roaming the streets and beaches in shorts and light tank tops. This morning, it was only 56 F. and I was sensibly wearing a fleece-lined hoody but there were dozens of people on the street in short shorts, flip flops and tanks. I realize 56 degrees feels warmer than 26 degrees but I was really shivering before I put on the hoody. Now its nearly 70 but I still need a light sweater. Is the feeling of warm or cold just in their heads and mine? Or do Northerners bodies develop some kind of insulating fat or something that keeps them warm in cold temperatures?

Most are 1500 watts and have a circulating fan -- but so does an ordinary electric heater. Doesn't 1500 watts produce a given amount of heat? The only explanation I can think of is that the oil or ceramic would absorb some heat and release it slowly so heat would circulate by convection and the element and fan would kick in less frequently. Some advertisements, however, claim a saving in energy costs. How could this be?
