I'm writing a term paper on film culture in the subject of time. So i want to write about movies that make it a point NOT to tell the viewer when they are taking place.

I also want to find out what this might mean, but seeing as the when and where and what are such a large part of a story, i can't think of more than 2 movies that don't state exactly when they take place.

If a film director wants to blur out certain historical events or to omit some real world current event, it should have a good reason.

I would welcome any movies you think of and imdb links.

I am looking for two movies for the nineties or late eighties, the first is about a couple who is terrorized by their downstairs tenant. eventually he sends cockroaches up to their apartment thru the bath tub and other pipes. the second movie is about a girl babysitting, and a ventriloquist that comes to attack her. the ventriloquist can throw his voice and make her think he's out side when he's inside the house. in this one scene i remember, he was body-painted to fit exactly on the red brick wall, and you see him open his eyes. a very creepy movie.
