  • How do you look for a photographer?

    Hi there,

I've been professionally taking photos for 5 years, and most of my business is from word-to-mouth. But when I got engaged, I got really confused as to how to find a photographer. I still don't have one... can't seem to find one that has the modern style I like without completely overprocessing the shots. So I was wondering... how do you go about finding your photographer??

  • My laptop's slow, I believe Norton Antivirus 2007 has to do with it. Help!?

Computer's been slow. I used to store hundreds of photos. So I bought an external hard drive, and got rid of ALL the pics. Defragged. Restarted.

Then came Norton Antivirus 2007. And now it's hella slow. 10mn for outlook to start. And that damn lucoms~1.exe taking a lot of CPU at start.

What can I do to speeden up the computer? I was also shocked to see there's no quick way of exiting/shutting down norton... that's just crazy. So how can I make the computer faster without buying another one/more memory? This is just driving me crazy!!!!

Tech specs: ZX 3310 CPU AMD Turion 64 MT. 40GB hard drive, 256MB RAM.Only use is Microsoft office and photo storage (see above). No gaming. Mild internet browsing. No downloading from the internet.

  • Morimoto vs Love pepper challenge?

Anyone else out there who thought it was a rip off? Morimoto had NEVER dealt with the item, whereas the cowboy obviously stuffed everything with it because it's tasteless...

The judges kept saying Morimoto's food was good, and Love's wasn't.

Any idea why the guy got so "lucky" and how he got to win even though he had nothing but bad commentaries??

  • Chartering a boat from St Maarten to St Barthes?

What is the cheapest option to go from St Maarten to St Barthes? I'm a certified skipper and ideally would like to charter a sailboat from one to the other. What I've seen so far cost 4 times as much as the plane ticket to go to the isles from San Francisco in the first place!

Also for locals: the best time to come... and other islands I could sail to. I speak French, English and Spanish fluently... any other islands where I could fit in? It's hard to find that info on the net...

If you have the kindness... places to visit, cheap places to stay, specialty foods. I've been around the world but that's my next stop, and there's nothing like local knowledge...

Thank you very much for the info!

  • I would like to buy an external hard drive under $100. Purely for storage of my thousands of pictures.?

Is there a good, cheap hard drive out there? I have about 10,000 1M photos, but have upgraded by camera, so the new photos will be 3.21MB each. I take an average of 300-400 per week. Is there a reliable but cheap harddrive I can get out there? Super relunctant to pay over $100.

  • Hesitating between the Canon G7 and Panasonic DMC-FZ50K?

I'm hesitating between these two models... anyone can help?

I want real time preview (I think both have it)

I'd like to play with more advanced settings. Price is not an issue; but I'm scared of 35mm. I've tried a Konica S7, wayyy too advanced for me. I'd like to have the presettings of my Nikon L1 (super basic), but be able to choose aperture priority if I want...

    what do you guys think?

  • Looking for a transitional camera?

    Hello everyone,

My first digital camera was (is) a Nikon L1. This is what I have done with it

    http://www.featurepics.com/Authors/Images4248.aspx

Now I am looking for a camera to transition to more serious photography. I want a wider range (more close ups, more pics in lower lighting), but I can't give up real time display on the LCD. I've tried a konica minolta S7, but that's way too complicated for me. 99% of my pics with that camera are terrible, as I have to guess what the photo looks like before I take it (and obviously I'm not very good at that), I can't read the RAW, can't easily print it, so it's frustrating like hell.

I would like a camera with live view, but that would open to experimentation. I'd like to play with focus, ISOs, and shutter speed. Ideally, it wouldn't be too bulky, as I walk and travel a LOT. But then, I may be asking too much. Any ideas?

  • Hips hurting at 24?

I've been exercising mildly (walking 1h a day, flat land, moderate pace), and although I have no muscle pain, my hips feel like they're burning. It's been like this for 3 weeks, after I jumped for volleyball. After landing, my hip hurt. And yes, I am dead sure it's not muscle pain, I've stretched everything, and I recognize muscle pain quite easily. I've taken advil a couple of times, but it still hurts.

    Any ideas?

  • Change in cat peeing behaviour?

    Hi

I got a cat 9 months ago... she comes to work with me, which means going into a box twice a day. For 9 months, no problem. Then yesterday, she poops in the box. And this morning, she goes at it again - she pees.

Now I didn't take the car at the usual hours for 2 days, but those aren't hours where she pees. How can I clean the box so she'll sit in it without peeing again? And any idea why she would do that??

  • Flea question...?

Ok you've probably answered questions 1,000 times. But I've read a lot of stuff and it's just made me more confused...

Got a kitty 1 month ago. Bad, bad place I got her from. She had fleas, earmites, tape worms, round worms, and I have yet to discover what else.

The first day, I saw a flea, so I bought a shampoo. Shampooed the poor thing, which was really, really small and skinny looking. Next day, looked fine. Day after, I think I see a flea. Got a flea comb, caught 4 fleas!! Completely panicked, went to vet, got advantage, got some powder, snowed the apartment.

Vacuumed. Washed everything in boiling water.

Now we're 1 month later. In the meantime, she got revolution, because the vet discovered she got earmites.

Now yesterday, visit a friend's house. Friend used to have cat, outdoors, died 3 months ago. Go there, leave her in 2 rooms for 1h while we have dinner.

Now friend's husband is complaining of flea bites.

    - Could it be fleas from their old cat?

    - What should I do??
