What species of plant is this?
My neighbors moved away and gave away a bunch of their things for free. One of the things I took was this cactus/aloe looking plant. It resembles an aloe plant but is different. It isn't sharp and I can touch it without being stabbed by spines. It has no distinct odor and leaves no residue on skin when touched.
I would like to know the species so I can care for it as best as possible. Currently I have it in partial sun with waterings once every two weeks.
1 AnswerBotany8 years agoIs it legal to own a 13 lined ground squirrel in Michigan?
A family member of mine found a young 13 lined ground squirrel (age estimated around 1 month old) that's mother had been shot with a bebe gun by children a day before, and I was deemed the one most capable to care for it due to my knowledge of animal care. I feel pretty comfortable with caring for him/her and have a cage with carefresh bedding, a hamster nest, and a hamster log in the cage with a ceramic heat lamp over the nest side of the cage. I have weighed the baby at 22g this morning and he/she has had 2 feedings (one last night around midnight, and another this morning around 9am). I have tried to get him/her to defecate/urinate with a warm moistened Q-tip, but haven't had success with that yet. I'm going to try with my next feeding around noon. I've done a lot of research and I think I'm doing things right, BUT is it legal? I know it is illegal to keep native animals caged/as pets but I can't find anything about them being native, or as pets. Does anyone know?
For those of you who don't know what animal I'm talking about, here is a few pictures off the internet:

2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks8 years agoWhy do ear buds hurt my ears?
When I use earbuds to listen to my ipod, the earbuds always hurt my ears; why is this? It's not the fit of the buds; I can comfortably fit them in my ear without forcing or pushing hard.
I also don't listen to music with the volume up high; I would rather keep my hearing! I usually listen to my ipod at less than half way up; on the rare occasion I'll listen to it at half. They also hurt my ears even if nothing is playing. I don't know how to explain it... the little white noise the speakers make because they are plugged into something bugs my ears almost just as much as listening to normal music. I feel a dull pain deep inside my ear... it's kind of like a headache or an ear infection... but not... I'm not sure if that makes sense.
I've had hearing tests done and everything and I'm all normal. I've heard about how earbuds put the sound directly in your ears which can damage your hearing; can they still damage your hearing even if the volume is down pretty low?
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management9 years agoDo female ringneck doves do this?
I was told that the two ringneck doves I bought from a girl off of craigslist were females but I am starting to doubt it. One of my doves coo's and laughs much more than the other and does the bowing where he/she puts their head way down, puts their head up and coos while puffing out his/her chest to impress the other. Does this mean that he/she is male or do females do this as well if they are a same sex pair?
2 AnswersBirds9 years agoWhat Cage Should I Keep My Doves In?
I recently got two female Ringneck Doves and would like to get a bigger, better cage for them sometime in the near future. I read online that long cages are best but I can't seem to find one that will suit them. I don't want to make one (I don't do well with power tools), but don't want to pay more than $150. Do you have any cages to suggest? I would prefer one with a stand and a pull out tray is a must for easy cleaning. I have also been looking into rabbit cages because I heard they are ok to keep them in as well. If you guys know of any good cages to keep my doves in please send me a link. :)
1 AnswerBirds9 years agoPet Dove Care Tips Wanted:?
I just got two tame female Ringneck Dove's today that I bought from some girl on craigslist today and I was wondering if you guys had any tips for me. I bought them on impulse so I didn't get to do extensive research like I normally do before I get a pet (I know, it's bad!) I do have experience with birds already, I currently have six budgies and a parrotlet in a large flight cage and give them the best possible care that I know of and want to give theses two girls just as good care.
I have the food that they came with- millet, sunflower, cracked corn and the like- Is this what is best for them? I also plan on giving them fresh veggies daily.
They didn't come with grit, but am going to pick that up tomorrow afternoon. I didn't pick it up today because the store had already closed.
I also plan to pick up a natural wood and a square perch for them because I have read that is what I best for them. (I don't give my birds dowels because it is bad for their feet and have spent a small fortune in bird perches)
Do they need a cuddle bone? If so, I feel like it needs to be crushed because I don't think they could get anything off of it... though I could be wrong.
Any and all advice/tips is appreciated and feel free to list any notable things I have not listed.
6 AnswersBirds9 years agoDo I have a butterface?
I can't believe I have resorted to this, but I have always been pretty proud of my body. I have a flat stomach, and am in decent shape, but I am self conscious about my face and worry that I have a butterface (attractive body, but not facially pleasing).
Here are some pictures:

Please give me honest answers, and none of that 'everyone is beautiful' stuff. I want the honest truth please.
5 AnswersHair9 years agoLooking for a cuddly pet bird- suggestions?
I am looking for a pet bird that I can cuddle and handle and maybe teach a few tricks. I want a pretty small/inexpensive bird that I can buy an unweaned one and hand raise it if I want/feel that I'm ready. I wouldn't get a just hatched one, I would wait a week or more, depending on the species so they could get the much needed crop milk. I also understand this is a huge commitment and am just exploring the thought of it, not making plans yet. I also would do a test run on baby finches that I can get inexpensively at a pet store to make sure I am capable. (After rereading that, that makes me sound like a horrible person... for the record, I don't consider finches disposable, they just seem like the easiest to start on.)
I have experience with birds and have grew up with small birds (a cockatiel and budgies) and currently have a large flight cage with budgies and a parrotlet.
Do you guys have any species to suggest? So far I am thinking about Budgies, Cockatiels, and Doves, but am willing to consider other species.
5 AnswersBirds9 years agoVet Technician Vs. Veterinarian?
I graduated from high school last year (June 2012) and am debating on where I want my life to go. Currently I am debating on becoming a vet tech or a veterinarian but am not sure which path I want to go. As of now I plan on going to a local community college to get my science associates then I wanna pursue my career (assuming I made up my mind by then).
These are the questions I have about the two careers:
- Which is more hands on with animals and people?
- Which has the least paper work/ least amount of time doing desk job like work?
- How long do you have to go to school for each career?
- If I become a vet tech, can I proceed into a vet?
- What is the difference in responsibilities I each career has?
- Any extra info?
As of now I am looking into doing a job shadow at the local vet clinic to check stuff out, but I was hoping to get some extra info from you guys.
