  • Platy Fry Hiding Question?

Hey everyone, I bought 2 female and 1 male platy this weekend, and I noticed one of the females seemed stressed, and lied at the bottom a lot. Sadly, I found it dead this morning. But, I found out why it was so stressed. The male was harassing her, and she was pregnant and I just realized a few fry swimming around my tank. I don't have any interest to save all of them and make a whole platy tank, since they will be moved to my new tank soon (I already have the stocking planned out for it), but I would like to save 1-2 of them.

Do you think they will survive. They are hiding in my Java Moss right now, and there is little crumbs of food that are on the plat all over (Maybe I'll feed a touch extra now to make sure some sinks to them), but my main concern is my Cories. I have 4 Cories and they go into the moss a lot. Do you think they will eat them before they can grow big enough? What would you do to save 1-2 of them?

    Thanks

  • Female Platy Hiding, and Another Female Gasping for Air?

Hey, yesterday, I got 3 Platies ( 1 Male, 2 Females ), and one of the females hides a lot on the ground in the Java Moss. Is this normal, or do you think she is stressed? The other two have never hid in there, and are swimming around the tank. I know the one hiding isn't pregnant, but I can tell the male is trying to find a a mate. Do you think he just stressed her out?

Also, just a small second q. I have also been noticing that the other female has been at the top a lot, taking gulps/breaths to the surface. Is this normal or from stress too? I have an air pump, good water circulation and it's my only fish that does it.

The platy just came out of the moss.

    :)

    Thanks

  • Help me stock my 26 gallon planted tank? **Please Help**?

Hey everyone, I am going to be stocking my 26 gallon long planted aquarium soon, so I wanted to figure out what fish I will put into it. I've had plenty of ideas, but here is another one of my thoughts. Please edit it if you want to, and tell me if there are any problems with it...

    - 1 Discus

    - 5-7 Harlequin Rasboras (How many?)

    - 4-6 Corydoras Catfish (How many?)

    - 1 Bristlenose Pleco

Do you think this will work? Im kind of doubting it...

Also, I already have 5 Harlequin Rasboras, and 4 Corydoras Catfish in another tank that will be going into this new one.

I know I've been asking this question a lot, but it's because everyone is just telling me problems with my ideas, please change it around, and tell me how you would stock this tank.

    Thanks a lot

Also, I already have 5 Harlequin Rasboras, and 4 Corydoras Catfish in another tank that will be going into this new one.

I know I have been asking this a lot lately, so please help me out here, and don't just say the problems, try to fix it up a bit please.

  • Stocking a 26 Gallon Planted Aquarium?

Hey everyone, I have had tons of ideas for stocking my 26 gallon planted aquarium, and I just came up with a new one...

    2 Discus

    7 Harlequin Rasboras

    6 Corydoras Catfish

    1 Bristlenose Pleco

Would this be too overstocked, or would there be too much aggression between only 2 discus in a tank? Would it work?

Also, just to keep in mind, I already have 5 of the Harlequin Rasboras, and 4 of the Corydoras in another tank that will be going into this one, so try to keep them included if you change anything around.

Please edit it if you have any other ideas, and tell me if there are any problems.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Help with a stocking plan?

Hey everyone, I have been asking this question a lot lately, but I still don't really have an answer that more then one person could agree on. I'm trying to make a stocking plan for my 26 gallon planted aquarium.

So, if possible, can you try to make a plan that would work for this tank?

Just to keep in mind, I already have 5 Harlequin Rasboras and 4 Corydoras Catfish in another tank that will be going into this one, so for whatever you come up with, please try to keep them included.

Also, sorry to be a bit picky, but I really wanted Neon tetras (like, at least 10), and if possible, a centerpiece fish (I guess a bigger one then all of my other schoolers). Please try not to suggest any fish that will eat my plants.

    Thanks.

  • Stocking a 26 Gallon Planted Aquarium **Changed Around**?

Hey everyone, I am going to be stocking my aquarium soon, so I wanted to make a stocking plan. Please edit them if you have any other ideas or if there are any problems. Also, just to keep in mind. I already have 5 Harlequin Rasboras, and 4 Corydoras Catfish, in another tank that will going into this one, so if you modify it, try to keep them included.

I changed the ideas from what I was told in the same question before...

    - 7 Harlequin Rasboras

    -15 Neon Tetras

    - 6 Corydoras Catfish

    -1 Bristlenose Pleco

And, maybe if you think I still can put in another fish, without overstocking, you can suggest a centerpiece fish? Maybe a Dwarf Gourami or something like that?

    Thanks a lot.

  • Stocking a 26 Gallon Planted Aquarium?

Hey everyone, I am going to be stocking my aquarium soon, so I wanted to make a stocking plan. I had some different ideas, so please tell me which you like the best, and edit them if you have any other ideas or if there are any problems. Also, just to keep in mind. I already have 5 Harlequin Rasboras, and 4 Corydoras Catfish, in another tank that will going into this one, so if you modify it, try to keep them included.

    Here it is:

    1st idea:

    Top/Middle:

    10 Neon Tetras

    6-7 Harlequin Rasboras (How many?)

    1 Angelfish

    Bottom:

    4-6 Corydoras Catfish (How many?)

    1 Bristlenose Pleco

    2nd idea

    Top/Middle:

    10 Neon Tetras

    6-7 Harlequin Rasboras (How many?)

    2 German Blue Rams

    Bottom:

    4-6 Corydoras (How many?)

    1 Bristlenose Pleco

It all depends really on the amount of Harlequins, Corydoras, and weather to go with german blue rams, or angelfish.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Stocking my 26 gallon planted aquarium.?

Hey everyone, just two little questions. I am going to be starting to stock my 26 gallon planted aquarium, and I wanted to make myself a stocking plan. Here's what I have in mind. Please tell me if there are any problems, and please edit it if you think there should be any changes. Here it is:

    Top/MIddle: 10 Neon Tetras, 7 Harlequin Rasboras

Bottom: 6 Corydoras Catfish, 1 Bristlenose Pleco

Also, for a small little 2nd question. Im going to be using my 14 gallon tank as a quarantine tank, but 14 gallons is not suitable for a bristlenose pleco. So, should i just add it to the new tank (but take a lot of time with it), or should I risk stressing it by putting it in the 14 gallon?

    Thanks a lot.

  • Stocking my 26 gallon planted aquarium.?

Hey everyone, just a quick question. I am starting my 26 planted aquarium, and I wanted to make out a little stocking plan for myself. Tell me what you think, and please edit it if there are any problems, or changes you think should be made. Here it is:

    Top/MIddle: 7 Harlequin Rasboras, 10 Neon Tetras

Bottom: 6 Corydoras Catfish, 1 Bristlenose (Bushy Nose) Pleco.

It is very simple for the planted aquarium, but I just wanted to make sure that I wont be overstocking it.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Lighting For a Planted Aquarium?

Alright so I will be starting my 25 gallon planted aquarium soon, and I have been having some problems for lighting. Im buying the the jumbo plant set from liveaquaria, so I'm pretty sure some are high quality lighting, and others aren't. I'm pretty sure I would need a minimum of 2 watts/gallon, but I don't have that. As of now I have 20 watts for 25 gallons. The spectrum is also off, I know I will need to change that.

Anyways, what do you suggest so that I get good plant growth? I will have my lights, flourite and eco complete as substrate, a good co2 system, good filtration, undergravel heater for plant roots, + more. Do you think they will grow fine as it is? Or what do I do. I already spent like 100 on the lights so I don't want to have to spend much more on lights.

    Thanks.

  • Stocking my 26 gallon long freshwater aquarium?

I will be starting my 26 gallon planted aquarium soon, so I wanted to figure out what I'm going to stock it with. I already know the types I want, I just would like some opinions on the amounts.

    I was thinking of:

    7 Harlequin Rasboras

    5-6 Corydoras Catfish

    10 Cardinal Tetras

Would this work? Please switch it up if you know a better way. Also I kind of wanted a centerpiece fish, so I was thinking of something like a Pearl Gourami. Would there be room for 1 or 2?

    Thanks
