  • What is "Murphy's Law"?

I know that it is "whatever can go wrong, will go wrong" but who was Murphy? And where did the phrase originate?

  • What is the difference between a baseball bat and a softball bat?

Recently, in a softball game, a player was told his bat is illegal because it was a baseball bat. What is the difference in the types of bats and what kind of advantage would the player have by using a baseball bat in a softball game or vice versa?

  • Is there a way to embed just a part of a YouTube clip?

I am making a power point presentation and I would like to add Abbot & Costello's "Who's on First" routine. But I just want to add a small section of the video, not the entire 6 minute routine. Is there a way to embed or copy just a part of the clip?

  • How do I hit the ball further?

I'm very new to golf. I can probably count the times I've played on one hand. I am working to keep the ball straight on my drives and I continue to hear that I "should let the club do the work" when I drive. When I "let the club do the work" I hit the ball pretty straight, but it only goes about 150 yds. When I try to muscle up and hit the ball hard, I have a terrible slice. How do I get more distance on my drives? Is there something mechanically that I'm doing that causes the slice?

  • Is it me or is ESPN Sportscenter just ridiculous now?

I'm getting absolutely sick of Sportscenter force feeding us highlights of sports that aren't on the national radar simply because ABC or ESPN has the broadcast rights. Since ESPN has the rights to Arena Football, now they show the highlights. THey do the same with WNBA. Also, showing highlights and top plays from Dancing with the Stars and Wipeout just because it's on ABC. Where's the journalism? Where's the credibility? Is it now just a 60 minute advertisement?

  • Wasn't the Big Show on ECW?

When did he become a part of Smackdown? He was in the Smackdown garb for the 15-man over-the-top elimination match.

    Also this...

C'mon, an over the top match with the Big Show and Great Khali on one team. There's No way Smackdown should have lost. C'mon.

  • Isn't the +1 system in college football a joke too?

It sounds like a good system, but if you take this year, how could you argue which two teams would play in the new championship game. You could make a valid argument for Kansas, Missouri, West Virginia, USC, Georgia, LSU, etc. Do you still think they can name a true number 1 with all of these teams thinking they should be in that +1 game.

  • Coffin Corner???

Why don't punters try and kick the ball into the coffin corners anymore. It seems that more often than not, I see teams try and get to the punt to keep it out of the endzone instead of trying to punt it out on the sideline. I think, as a coach, I'd tell my punter to kick it towards the sideline and if he got it anywhere between the goaline and the 20 is a plus rather than getting a touchback which is usually what happens on the field anymore.

  • Who to start in week 1?

I'm trying to fill my 2nd quarterback slot for week 1. Should I start Phillip Rivers or Trent Green. San Diego is playing Chicago in San Diego week 1 and the Miami Dolphins are on the road against Washington. Yahoo is predicting slightly better stats for Trent Green.

  • Why is it that star basketball players...?

Why is it that it seems basketball stars get more involved in front office deals than any other sport? In basketball, it seems that the stars of the team start demanding trades(Kevin Garnett) and dictating personnel moves(Kobe Bryant) more than any other sport. I know it happens in other sports, but not like in the NBA. Usually in other sports it's just the people on the fringe. A guy doesn't want to be the back up or holds-out for more money at the beginning of the season. Not usually the stars.

  • What is the purpose of having a draft lottery?

I was just wondering why the NBA and the NHL have a draft lottery for their top picks and the NFL and MLB do not. Why didn the NBA and NHL change to a lottery format a few years ago?
