Fat Boy

I have my Desktop set up to where it should go in to sleep mode after twenty minutes of idle time... for some unknown reason, it isn't doing it. I've checked and rechecked my settings in the control panel, but it still isn't going to sleep. What could be causing this? My first guess would be some sort of virus, but I've ran my software (two different kinds) and came up empty.

I'm having trouble with my laptop. Whenever I boot it up, it will run fine for about twenty seconds, then it'll blue screen, and reboot itself. This just started happening out of the blue a few days ago. Whenever I choose to boot it up in safe mode, all is well, it works fine. What could cause my laptop to blue screen whenever it boots normally?

I'm wanting to start looking into my family's background. Are there any sites I can use that doesn't cost anything?

I'd like to find out exactly what I am, such as Irish, native american, so forth. Is there any way to do this, or maybe a blood typing sort of thing?

I've been on the fence about buying an iPad. I want one, but what can I do with it besdies load music/movies onto it...? Would I be able to have any pratical uses out of it, or would it simply be an entertainment device?

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio, and it keeps unbalancing itself, no matter what the load in the washer is. I can't even wash one pair of coveralls (Nomex) without it being off balance. Is there a way to tighten up the drum so that it doesn't rattle out of control? (I'm not very rich at the moment, or else I'd call a service man to come check it out.)

Which way do I cut my meat to make jerkys and stews and soups? I thought I cut it across the grain, but which way it the tight way to make the meat more tender? Cut it with the grain or across the grain?

I have an upright vacuum, it's a green Eureka Capture. I can't remember how to get the blasted thing to such through the hose, though. Any help? Just for clarification, I wanna use the hose to get into the tight spaces in the corners.

Okay, so I`m driving to class this morning and somehow manage to tear a brake line on the right front of my 2001 F-150. I`m only about ten miles to my house... my question is, could I make a quick fix just to get it back home using duct tape or something?
