  • Why did orthodontics prices quadruple?

From the mid 80's to the mid 90's it generally cost about $2K for braces at that time from beginning to finish by reason that every appointment was about $100 smackers for re-adjusting and such. I need a jaw alignment and even dentists keep pushing that Invisalign product even though it will not aid in correcting my problem, my problem is that I was told at only one ortho office it would come to $7K using the old silvers but same price. I guess I was wrong to assume a 1K inflation would have sufficed here. Why in the world do they think it is ok to hike up the price that much?

It is ridiculous! I understand their little wiring robot research will decrease time(which should be less to pay yet you pay more for the technology), but seems I will manage just fine on the old fashioned way. Looks like most of the snazzy places just want to up-charge so their office looks more high tech. I am not paying for that! Another friend said she will have to pay that, too for her 12 y o kid, I think they are robbing her blind! If I had to I would just do it myself, lol!

Do they have the defensive backing to service and supply for charging that high?

  • How do I remove extra scar tissue?

I had a box-cutter accident 2 weeks ago, long story short, it cut through my thumb knuckle and the flesh was hanging by a 3 millimeter piece. Instead of going to the ER, I just stopped the bleeding and applied bandages for a few days. I used band-aids after that. Now it has completely sealed up. But the scar is lumpy and I cannot bend my thumb in that area without it going from pink to very white and wince in pain because it seems it will burst. I think I will have to have a procedure to get any access scar tissue removed. Would this be an accurate theory? Is that what typically happens after a deep cut?
