"If I had to choose a religion, the sun as the universal giver of life would be my god." Napoleon Bonaparte I am a soldier, a mother, and a lover of the natural world, but none of theses things define me, each is simply a part that makes the whole. "This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness." Dalai Lama If the people in this world could worry about themselves, instead of everyone else...and simply show a shred of kindness and respect to others, it really would be a wonderful life. "A man's kiss is his signature." Mae West "I'm no model lady. A model's just an imitation of the real thing." Mae West Love to the fullest, and never worry about what others think. Be honest, be real!! Its your life, and you will never get the chance to live it again. No regrets...ever.

  • Help with essay - just need help getting started -?

I really just need help with getting an idea for what to write for the essay topic below - its due by 11:59 tonight. Please help

Until approximately the mid-18th century, the Great Chain of Being was the primary concept through which all living matter was understood. Its basic premise was that organisms closest to divine perfection (as noted by their material and ideal forms) were to be understood as being most God-like and thus ranked highest on the hierarchy of being-ness—so to speak.

With this concept in mind, how was the practice of ethnocide and genocide rationalized during that time period? Who was determining the rankings of human populations? What were these rankings based on?

What significance does this have to the 19th century (1800s) perception of races being indicative of human subspecies?

Is cultural complexity directly correlated to biological evolution? or In other words, are more advanced societies more biologically evolved? Explain your answer.

  • How do you handle religious conversations when you cant say what you really mean.?

Typically I don't discuss religion with random people, it just isn't a topic of conversation that typically comes up.

However, this afternoon while talking with a co-worker about school I mentioned that I would be starting classes to complete my BA in History. She proceeded to tell me that she never liked history, and that she didn't understand how people could believe that

"Paul Revere was real but not believe in Jesus. She went on to explain how we had just as much proof that Jesus was a real person that walked the earth as we did historical figures like Paul Revere and Christopher Columbus. And that we had to have "faith" that what was in history books was real, just like the Bible.

I stood there, blank faced, without a clue what to say to her. I couldn't say what I really wanted to without landing myself in hot water. I have no problems with this lady. She is actually very nice and funny - But what so you say in a situation like that? She was obviously looking for me to agree with her and seemed confused when I didn't.

And one a said note - How in the world can someone compare the factual existence of a historical figure like Paul Revere to the existence of Jesus?

  • Can you help me understand this recipe?

I found a recipe for a ham that I would like to create this weekend for Yule, but I am a bit confused by the wording in place. Here it is :

Drizzle half of the liquid star thistle honey glaze over the ham (help by opening the spiral to allow honey glaze to flow inside as well as out of the ham, then close and secure the bag with supplied tie. Pour in one can of chicken broth directly into the ban bottom, (not over the ham) so that the ham is sitting in the broth.

Now, my question is does the broth go inside the bag with the ham? It says to seal the bag THEN pour the broth, but then it says the ham is supposed to be sitting in it. Any help that you can offer would be great. Thanks to much.

  • Where can I go to have a USMC rifle case made?

I am trying to get a custom made rifle case for my husband for this birthday in September. He was medically separated from the Marine Corp after breaking his back in 2 places, but still loves to go the range to shot and such. For our anniversary I got him an AR-15 with 2 upper receivers (one is longer than the other), scope, bipods...I suppose all the specifics are not necessary. Currently he keeps it in the plain black hard plastic case that I got when I purchased it. I would love to have a case made that would include the marine corp logo on the front or something. I didn’t think it would be hard to find one actually, that someone else has to have had this idea before but I cant find anything other than 1 OD green soft case which I don’t think would be large enough. I have checked in my area locally for someone that could make it with no luck. Is there somewhere online that I can get it made? Any help would be great. Thank you.

  • Helping finding pictures from the 1993 movie The 3 Musketeers?

I am in the process of creating costumes for Halloween for my son and my husband. They (along with a few others) are going as Musketeers. They want the costumes to be modeled ofter the 1993 movie with Charlie Sheen. I have looked and looked for *good* pictures of the costumes and really cant find any. I need something that is going to give me a really good look at the costume so I can see how to make it. Is there somewhere that I can find good pictures? I have tried IMDB, google searches, and still nothing good. Any help you can offer would be great. Thanks!

  • Help understanding child support calculations?

My husband was recently served child support papers. The child has been out of his life for about a year. No support has been paid in this year. He tried several times to contact the childs mother to work something out about child support and visitation but she would never answer his emails or return his calls. Now apparently she wants child support. This is not a problem, we are more than willing to do the right thing and pay what is required. But I have a few questions.

1- Can my income be calculated into paying his child support? I dont mean to sound rude...but its not my child. I have 3 children to provide for, and we struggle doing that. I cant afford for what I make to be taken away from my kids.

2- My husband is a disabled Marine. He recieves a set amout of disability from the VA every month. (750.00) This is the only income he has. Even when he and the mother of the child were together, she was the one that worked outside the home so she knows he does not have a large income. Can his disability payments be garnished?

3- Why, when doing the child support calculator for my state (FL) does his portion to pay go up when her income increases? The first time he did the support calculator he did not know her income, so he estimated what she used to make. Since then we have gotten more accurate infomation and he went back and tried the calculator again. She now makes over twice what he does in a month, and the amount of support he would be required to pay went up? How is that possible?

We do not have the money to hire and lawyer right now, and apparently Legal Aid in our area does not take child support cases. What options do we have so that he does not wind up getting screwed over when all is said and done?

  • Splitting skin on daughters toe?

My 5 year old daughters big toe has skin that is splitting....not like cracking and bleeding but more like lots of little splits where the skin can be lifted up with tweezers. It snags on everything and hurts pretty bad. Her Dad things she may have Athletes Foot from wearing her water shoes too much when playing outside in the sprinklers but this is not something I have ever seen before.

Also last night she came to crying that her foot hurt and I thought I saw a splinter so I got the tweezers and pulled out what looked like a hair (maybe ingrown) from the pad of her foot. I have never seen this before either. Is hair supposed to grow on the bottom of your feet??
