  • Is it common to have a clogged milk duct close to the chest?

I've had 2 clogged ducts since March and they were both red and very painful. Yesterday I notice a lump on my left breast and it extends to the chest and is not painful at all. I have read that most clogged ducts are near the nipple, so I'm concerned this may be something else. Has anyone had experience with something like this?

  • Why does one Wii remote work great and the other one doesn't?

We've had our Wii for about 7 months, and after about 2 months the 2nd remote started working erratically. I've re-synced, I've done a hard reset, I've hit the remote against my hand, but nothing helps. It works decently on some games, but on others, such as the 3-point shooting contest in basketball in Resort, it doesn't. You can pick up the ball and shoot, but it always goes flat. No matter what you do, you can't get it to shoot in a nice arch and go in the hoop. That's just one game, there's bunch of others that it doesn't work well on either. It has been dropped a few times because I have little kids, is it possible that the problem isn't fixable? I'd appreciate any insight into this issue as we can't really do very many 2 player games and we really like to!

  • Anyone have ideas for a boy/girl shared room?

I'm mostly looking for answers that have a link to a picture!! My 5 year old girl and 3 year old boy are sharing a room and I would love some pictures of some cute/inexpensive ways to decorate their room. My girl is a girly girl and my boy is all boy...so something that was all the same probably wouldn't work. It's not a very large room so that needs to be taken into consideration as well.

  • Is it possible to get salmonella from bacon that was cooked in a slow cooker for 5 hours?

My husband made a bean soup in the crock pot last night with a full pound of bacon in it. The bacon was put in raw. It was cooked on high for 5 hours. After it was done he ate 2 or 3 small bowls of it, not excluding the bacon. Myself and his mom had a couple of bites, but we avoided the bacon chunks because they were white and squishy and they did not look appetizing! At about 3 in the morning my husband started to have stomach issues and today he is vomiting and has diarrhea and the chills. Both myself and his mom are fine. We don't know of anyone who has had stomach flu. Is it salmonella? He didn't even think twice about eating the bacon because of how long it cooked (it did boil for a full hour), but is it possible that it was still raw and still carried salmonella?

  • Are my daughters tonsils enlarged?

My 4 year old daughter just started gagging (almost choking once) on her food about 2 weeks ago. I have found some info online that lead me to believe it may be enlarged tonsils, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience. Today she was eating a fiber bar and starting gagging and I told her to just spit it out. She spit it in my hand and it was almost completely pureed. This scares me and I almost want to rush her to the ER, but don't know if this would do any good.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

  • Does anyone have info about VBA2C's?

I have had 2 csections. The first was because the baby was breech and the second was because my water broke at 31 weeks (a slow leak) and they wouldn't let me go past 34.

I am looking for any information about vba2c's. The good the bad and the ugly! I am 32 weeks along with my 3rd and my doc gave me the option of vaginal or csection. I am concerned about the risks of both, but would prefer to do what's less risky for the baby.

I would love personal experiences as well as statistics if you have any. I've heard that the risk of rupture after 2 is higher from some places and that it's not any more risky than after 1 from other places. I've also heard that you have a 2% chance of rupture with ANY vaginal birth. How does that compare to the percentage of rupture after 2?

I have only a few weeks to make my decision and I would love to be as informed as possible. Thanks for your help!

  • I have white spots on both sides of my throat but no other symptoms, what could it be?

I have looked this up in several places and can't find this exact thing anywhere. I'll have a spot on one side of my throat and scrape it off. It doesn't hurt at all. I've heard some people say that they will do the some thing and that it will eventually come back...but they made it sound like it's a while before it comes back. I will have one the next day, either on the same side or the other side. So I scrape that one off and the cycle begins again.

I have no other symptoms and it just feels like there's a piece of food stuck in my throat, that's the only reason I noticed it was there at all. I know the best thing is to go to my doc, I just can't get there until next week and it's driving me crazy! Has anyone had anything like this before??

  • How much to ship 40 lb lab/retriever from Tucson, AZ to Seattle, WA?

There are a bunch of websites that provide free quotes, but they all take several days. I would just like to know approximately what it would cost before I look into it more.

  • Is it normal to have referred pain 18 months after a c section?

I had my 1st child 3 years ago and had a pretty sharp pain in my upper right shoulder which the doc called referred pain. It went away but then started showing up occasionally 6 months to a year afterward.

I had my 2nd child 18 months ago, also c section, but with no referred pain. Just now I am starting to have the same pain show up as I had with my 1st baby. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just the referred pain or something else since it's been 18 months since my 2nd?

Please don't tell me to 'go see a doctor'. I know that's an obvious answer, I would just like to know if anyone else has had experience with this. Thanks!

  • Is it possible for an hpt to show negative if I'm pregnant and bleeding?

I know that it is possible to bleed while pregnant. I started bleeding real light on the day after I was supposed to start. I am still bleeding lightly 5 days later. I have taken a few test and they all say negative...but I've already had 2 kids and I have all the symptoms I've had with them! Is it normal to have pregnancy symptoms while on your period or am I possibly pregnant?

Please as many people answer as possible...and I would appreciate those who like to criticize to keep to themselves.

  • I'm bleeding very minimally the day after I was supposed to start...could I be pregnant?

I have a VERY regular cycle....28 days exactly. When I didn't start on the 28th day I got very excited and took a hpt. It said that I wasn't pregnant. I did some research which said sometimes the tests don't show you're pregnant until up to 42 days after last period! This got me hoping that maybe I could still be pregnant. (would be my 3rd child)

The next day, day 29, at the very end of the day I had some very light bleeding. Hardly any through the night, and today, day 30 very light bleeding in the morning but none since. I'm quite confused because my periods are never like this. How likely is it that I'm pregnant and just having some light bleeding?

  • Is it ok to continue breastfeeding my anemic one-year-old?

I just found out my 13 month old is severely anemic. He will start on the iron drops tomorrow. I've been reading a bit about too much milk possibly causing or at least aiding the anemia. Is it okay to continue nursing him as long as he's taking the drops?

  • Can I put green tomatoes in guacamole?

We planted our tomatoes a little late, and I decided to just pick them while they're green before they freeze. Would guacamole taste funny with green tomatoes instead of red?

I also don't have any lime juice...is there anything that could be substituted for this? I do have lemons...I know it's not the same thing, but would it work?

  • My sister has a burn on her face that's turning green, is this a bad thing?

She was told that to bring a zit to a head you boil milk, put white bread in it to make a pulp...and then put this on the zit. She did it while it was a bit too hot and scalded her face...a good inch in diameter 2 degree burn. The edges of it are red, but the whole middle is a green color. She's visiting us out of state so she can't go see her doctor about it. Does anyone have any input on what the green is?

  • How do I convince/force my 2 year old to pee?

I started potty training my 2 1/2 year old 2 days ago. She will not pee or poo in the toilet. In fact, she won't go anywhere! She's got the holding part down and now refuses to go in the potty. I put her diaper back on just so she would go, and she still won't. She finally peed in the middle of the night last night just because she was so disoriented.

She's smart too, because every time I offer to give her a bath or let her play with water she refuses because she knows it will make her go. Right now I don't really care where she goes...the potty chair would be preferable...but I just want her to GO so she doesn't get an infection or something. What do I do/say to convince her to go?

And offering fun things doesn't work...I've offered EVERYTHING that I know she loves eating/doing short of going on an airplane to go see grandma! Any help????

  • What do these symptoms mean I have?

I woke up today and was sore, achy, tired, had no energy and it basically hurts to move. But I'm not sick to my stomach and no diarrhea. Could this be just the achy flu? I have two young kids and it's really hard in my current state to care for them effectively. A few months ago my doctor thought I might have hyperthyroid. Does it sound like this is what it might be, or just the achy flu?

  • Ideas for 2 year old birthday party?

My daughter is 2 today and we are having her party tomorrow. We are doing a princess theme and I am just looking for ideas for games/activities. Nothing too structured or that takes too much time. Maybe just some stations that the kids can go to to at their leisure. Any ideas would be helpful!
