  • How do you find a decent apartment?

I am looking for a new place to live because I am tired of living in terrible places. Right now, we have a huge mouse problem that the landlord refuses to address, windows/doors that were broken by the previous tenant and never fixed, etc... So I'm looking for somewhere new.

But I can't seem to find anything better. I've looked through the listings of local property management companies and in the newspaper as well, but no luck. I also checked craigslist and Housing Helpers. Is there even such thing as a nice apartment? How do you find one?

  • How do I know when it's safe to leave my kitten alone with my dog?

I have a 3 year old male German Shepherd/Border Collie mix and a 6 month old female kitten. I've had the dog for about 9 months, but the kitten for only 4 months. I'm wondering when it will be safe to leave them alone together.

They are currently allowed to share the house when I'm home (the kitten has access to her own room, which is blocked off by a baby gate). The dog has never shown any signs of aggression like growling or barking at the kitten, but he was extremely enthusiastic about chasing and sniffing her for the first couple of months. Now, he lets the kitten play with his tail, and they seem like good friends for pets.

I'm just not sure how I can tell when it is safe to leave them alone while I'm at work. Right now, I keep her in my bedroom (with her food, water, litter box, bed, etc.) with the door shut while I'm gone and the dog stays in the rest of the house. The kitten would still be able to get into her gated room while I'm gone. She's about 5 pounds now, and the dog is 70 pounds, for what it's worth.
