  • What would you do if your child told you this?

My son is in first grade and while we were discussing his day he ask me if I knew what people ate in a different country. He went on to say that they ate "sheep testicles" and "wouldn't that be gross, mommy?". I asked him who told this to him and he said his music teacher.

This isn't the first time this teacher has said inappropriate things during class. Another example was when my son was singing the lyrics of a song. I recognized the song and it was a song about drinking wine!

Am I overreacting or is this something that all kids should learn about in elementary school?

  • Fingers numb!?

I had my baby by c-section last week. Ever since then, 3 of my fingers on my right hand have been partially or completely numb. The doctor keeps saying it is because of the swelling from the pregnancy. My fingers were beginning to go numb before the surgery....but not like this. I was wondering if anyone else ever had this happen to them and how long did it take to get the feeling back?

  • Tristan or Wyatt?

My son will be here via c-section on Thursday. I have chosen Tristan Ross for his name but now I am having second thoughts. We talked about Wyatt Ross a while back and now it sounds good to me again. I need help because I have too many hormones to be able to make a decision at this point!

This is what I want. My name begins with a "T" and I want the middle name to be Ross no matter what. Our first son is named after my husband, so I thought doing something with my name would be nice for the second son. But I do like Wyatt also.

So help me out PLEASE!! Any other suggestions would be appreciated also. Thank you all so much. This is just awful....I feel like I have a huge test coming up and I am so not prepared for it! (and i have been out of school for 12 years now...lol!)

  • Vinegar in a carpet cleaner?

I have pet urnine smell in my room rug. Used the hot steamer carpet cleaner and the detergent that comes with it. It didn't work to get the smell out....only made it worse. Do you think that vinegar in the hot water tank of the carpet cleaner would make a difference? I am about ready to roll the rug up and burn it! I am so aggravated with this. Any help or other suggestions will be appreciated.

  • 33 weeks mental overload!?

I know all about the nesting part of pregnancy because I already went through it once. What I would like to know is if anyone has been in a nesting overdrive and when did it start and when did it stop? It seems that I have been in my overdrive since about week 27. Some days I wear myself out so bad that I can't even walk because my hips just won't move anymore! Has anyone actually put themselves into the hospital or early labor from a nesting overdrive? Today I did extra grocery shopping (like cases of canned goods), washed the walls in my sons' closet (again) went through all the baby shower gifts from my shower that was yesterday, did all 30 thank you cards and got them in the mail today, packed a diaper bag, made supper, bathed my son, cleaned the living room (again), swept the furniture, did 3 loads of laundry.....and this was an easy day...lol! What did you do?

  • Laundry detergent for newborn?

Would it be okay to use a different type of laundry detergent besides Dreft for my newborn's clothes? I want to use something with no dyes or perfumes in it like a "free and clear" type. Compared to Dreft, it is much cheaper and seems to be about the same. I would just like to know if the "free and clear" brands would be as effective as Dreft at not causing skin irratations?

  • Bruises from school?

My son has been attending pre-school since October. He is now 5 but some of the other children are 3 and 4 year olds. I know that some bruises are common like on the shins, but he is coming home with bruises above the knees, arms, hips, chest and open areas on his back.

I took him to his doctor for a check up and asked him about the bruises. He told me what to look for and what is common and what is not. The shins are common but anywhere else is not common. He also explained "kick" bruises and what they look like.

I called the school and spoke with the nurse on Wednesday. My son told me that his teacher spoke with him about the bruising and he told her which child is hitting him all the time. I never heard from his teachers. Thursday, he came home with more uncommon bruises. Friday, the child that hits him wasn't at school and he had no new bruises. Should I keep calling the school and what advice should I give my son?

  • An incentive for a truckers strike?

Since truck drivers can't seem to get it together to actually pick a week and make a national truck strike happen, I propose this incentive.

If you all won't do it to help your business in the long run, if you won't do it to tell your boss that your time away from your family is worth more than what they are offering, if you won't do it to protest the gov't not giving a darn about you and price gouging you at the pump...maybe you will do it for good ole fashioned sex.

This is my idea.....wives and girlfriends of truck drivers. Get your man to stay at home with you for one week by offering him sex whenever and however he wants it. Clean, dirty, high heels, dominant...whatever it takes to get him to stay home for one week.

If anyone knows any parking lot gals, get them to give help out the guys with no wife or girlfriend for one week also. Even their business would improve.

NO I AM NOT JOKING. It takes a woman to get things done....by any means possible.

  • Can anyone relate?

I had a c-section with my first child almost 5 years ago. I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with my second child. Has anyone that has had a previous c-section experienced pain down in the lower abdomen...about where the scar would be on the uterus during the next pregnancy? I never had any pain there before I was pregnant and everything healed up very nicely. But since about week 18 I have been having an uncomfortable feeling there. I was checked for a bladder infection and no problems there. My doctor said it could be from the scarring. I was just wondering if anyone else had anything like this happen to them.

  • Truckers Strike?

Has anyone heard anything about the truckers strike on March 24, 2008?

Truckers need to unite and quite just talking about it.

  • Truckers Strike?

Has anyone heard about the truckers strike on March 24, 2008? This will be wonderful due to the high cost of diesel fuel right now.

If anyone knows of a trucker, let him/her know about this day. One day could make a huge impact. If only to show America that truckers can unite.

  • Baby and dog?

Olivia (the dog) is 1 year old. She has recently been spayed and is a house dog. We have raised her from a pup. She is a smaller terrier weighing about 15 lbs. We have a son who is almost 5 and she does really well with him and always has. I am pregnant and due in June. My great neice (1 yr.old) was here tonight to play and she usually doesn't come here. Olivia got really jealous of her quickly. She barked weird and kept jumping and digging at me when I held the girl. She barked at the girl and terrified her. Olivia was never actually mean with the girl, but it bothered me enough to send the girl home. Olivia has never bitten anyone or acted overly aggressive. She isn't even MY dog, though she does tend to hang out with me more and more lately. I am really concerned about how she will handle a new baby. Has anyone else had a similiar experience and what did you do? How hard is it to get a well established dog to accept a new child in the home?

  • Exercise and false contractions? (22 weeks)?

I started to exercise regularly a year before I became pregnant about 3-4 days a week.

I am trying to continue with the exercise, but I am experiencing braxton hicks contractions during exercise. I stretch and take it easy, but I still get them. I do a treadmill 10 min, eliptical 10 min. and light weights for about 15 minutes.

Has anyone else been a regular exerciser but during pregnancy had to quit? I really hate the thought of giving it up, but even walking up the hill to my van from my house gives me small tightenings. And it seems that the further along I get, the slightest thing gives me contractions.

I will see my doctor at the end of the month and plan on bringing this to his attention, but in the meantime, do you all think I should just quit with the exercise? Exercising at home does not work for me and the gym that I go to does not offer anything else besides aerobics.

  • Second c-section?

My first son was born by emergency c-section and I have decided to have another one due to the nature of the complications that I had before. I am 21 weeks along and starting to have nightmares about it. It is different because I know what is going to happen this time and I am becoming anxious about the whole thing. The first time was awful enough but I didn't know it was coming till it was too late for getting anxious about it.

I was wondering if any second time (or third) time c-section moms felt this way? How did you or are you coping? Most of the time I just put it out of my head, but it lurks back in at times. Last night's dream really scared me too. Am I just being silly?

  • 20 year friendship?

I just found out today that my friend since kindergarten stabbed me pretty darn good in the back. She told one of her other friends about some of my financial business and by the time it got back to me via my in-laws (what a nightmare) it was messed up so bad that the story ended with us about to lose everything. Which is not true at all and never was. I called her and asked her about what I had heard. She called her other friend that she might have told a little something to. This person screamed at her husband because he blabbed and he got on the phone with his friend who blabbed to my in-laws.

By the time my friend called me back, she had some more news for me. Apparently, I am on drugs and that is why we are having financial problems....so the story goes. I was floored. Anyone who knows me knows that this is not true. I have a CDL license, a young child, and am pregnant with my second child.

What would you do about this friendship? Save it and be more cautious? Or not?

  • Chuck or Tristan?

We found out that we are having a boy. This is our second son and I would like him to have a name that is similar to my name, Teresa. That is why I chose Tristan. If you can come up with another boy name similiar to mine, I would love to hear it. Tristan Elton was what I was thinking.

Another name that I thought about is Chuck. Not Charles. Chuck Wyatt. Do you automatically think of the movie Chucky when you hear Chuck? I will more than likely end up calling him Chucky sometime down the road...not because of the movie but because I shortened my first sons name like that too.....just a bad habit, I guess.

Anything else you all could suggest would be helpful. I am really stressing right now. I know that I shouldn't....but you know how it is.

  • Big uterus?

I was told I am 18 wks and 4 days. From the date of my last period, that would be correct. The nurse measured my belly and said that my uterus is measuring larger than what my dates are. I did not have a sonogram done before 12 wks to determine an accurate date. (I have just switched doctors due to this and a few other problems.) She did an in-office sonogram on a cheap-o black and white machine. She said she was checking for twins but still found only one baby. I was wondering if anyone else has every heard of a large uterus or if your doctor has told you something similar. I am not overweight (5'4" 135 lbs before pregnancy and 147 lbs. at 18 wks.) I am having a high-tech super duper ultrasound next week. But I am still wondering what is up with this large uterus.

  • Another baby shower?

I made a horrible mistake. Everyone kept asking me if I was having another babyshower and I kept saying NO. I do not feel like I need another one. Sure, there are some things that I need, but I have all the basics covered. I had a baby shower thrown for me with my first child 5 years ago and I did not think women had a second babyshower unless it was a long time in between or they do not have any of their things from their first child.

Well someone was planning a suprise babyshower for me ( I am under 20 wks.)and now I hurt their feelings. I didn't know! I apologized and explained why I didn't think I needed another one. But it was no good. Do you think I am being unreasonable about not wanting another baby shower? Or was the other person being unreasonable about getting their feelings hurt when I didn't even know before I said I didn't want another one? BTW....I still don't want one.

  • Should I tell my OBGYN doctor?

I am 16 wks pregnant with my second child. During my first pregnancy, my old doctor prescribed Protonix for me and it I took it with no problems. I asked my new doctor 3 times if he would prescribe it for me and each time he has said no. He had the nurse call to tell me.

Today, I seen my family doctor because I needed a physical for my job. I complained about the heartburn to him, and told him that I took Protonix during my last pregnancy. He immediatley wrote out a script for it and I had it filled today.

Should I even tell my OBGYN what I did? My labs for urine will probable be funny if I don't. I know he is going to give me a big song and dance about why he wouldn't prescribe it for me at my next appointment. I feel bad going behind his back, but I felt worse with heartburn. What should I do? Do you think I should find another OBGYN this far into my pregnancy? Should I just tell him what I did and let him throw me out the door?
