so i got the go ahead from the IT department to upgrade my cpu from Win 8 Pro to Win 10..

seems 1st i have to upgrade to Windows 8.1 then upgrade again to Win 10.

i have Intel i5 with 8 gb RAM and Win is 64bit....download speed is very fast here.

i plan to start Friday afternoon. how much time should i set aside to get this upgrade done?

I am looking for suggestions on what I can do with this desktop. Its from 2007, so its an Intel Q6600. It currently has Windows Vista and has been ridiculously reliable (with the exception of a burned out graphics card a few years ago). I will be getting a new Surface Pro so I will still have my Windows, and I finally need to get a router.

Right now my only idea is maybe putting Ubuntu on this desktop.

i got a hybrid bike in July.

on the right handlebar, i have 7 gears, these all work.

on the left i have 3 gears, i have a problem shifting

i can shift from 3 to 1 ok

i can shift from 3 to 2 ok

i can shift from 1 to 3 ok

but when i shift from 1 to 2.....i get a bunch of clicking.

like something is not in place. this doesnt seem right.

i can shift from 1 to 3....then shift down to 2...and it works.

is the problem the shifter on the handlebar? or the thing directing the chain?

is there any way for me to fix this?

is there a way to change where the Outlook 2013 desktop alert shows up?

right now when an email arrives, the Desktop alert shows up on the top right of the monitor.....this covers up the Close and Minimize buttons on my Windows 8.

looks like my only option is a basic checkmark that turns it alerts on or off.

my old Outlook 2003 had the desktop alert show up on the bottom right of the screen. it was a much better place.

i have Windows Vista.

i do not have the Bing Bar 7.2 or Bing Desktop v1.3...not that i know of anyway.

i dont want either of them installed.

everytime i go to Windows Update, these 2 "Optional Updates" keep showing up.

ive just been ignoring them and not installing them....

One of my springs broke. It still had the home depot label p730c…its an extension spring.

The spring on the other side is older (a lot older) and 2 inches longer when laid side by side.

The garage door is 7 foot tall (8ft wide). and i am planning on replacing both springs now.

My neighbors springs are 28 inches, and he says I should use p728c or 28 inches. I want to use the 30 inches.

Hooking them up looks real easy. I had S hooks,l but the new springs come with bent V looking hooks with a bar across it.

Anyone have any experience?

so its been 40 years since the draft ended in the US military, i am guessing everyone that was drafted would be retired by now.

my guess was Elvis Presley as Sargeant, but that cant be the highest rank.

ive been using Google Desktop since 2006....

all i really use it for is the Index and Search for emails and files.

Google discontinued Google Desktop in 2011.

Would the Windows 8 built in search be considered a good replacement?

or is there another program with the same awesome search functionality as Google Desktop had?

i can always download and use Google Desktop, but now that i am getting a new computer....i am wondering if there is a replacement thats better.

any suggestions?

if i buy a Windows 8 Desktop, will i also have to buy a new touchscreen monitor to go with it?

right now my monitor is 22 inches and not within arms reach....its just out of arms reach....its not touch-screen.

also if i get Windows 8 can i use my current monitor as a 2nd monitor?

any touch screen monitor suggestions (if i do need to get one)?

the passenger side looks perfect

the driver side seems to shoot off to the left lane.

ive tried standing in front and eyeballing it to see if its straight + level...

ive tried pointing it at the wall to see if it lines up...

both ways make it seem straight.

what am i missing?

am i reduced to change the bulb at night and drive around til it seems right?

its an 06 Outback....so theres a fragile springy paperclip type thing that holds the Bulb in place...i dont want to keep messing with it til i break it.

the 3 screws that attach the gate to the fence are loose.

opening/closing the gate loosens the top hinge.

i can push them in all the way with my finger...they dont stay in very long.

the sun-damage shows the outlines of an older larger hinge.

should i find a hinge that size?

but this current hinge works well when the screws are pushed in

I went to Taco Bell a couple of times, and tried both the Chicken Cantina Bowl and the Veggie Cantina Bowl.

they were both the same price...but i didnt see the difference.

a friend is thinking of buying a condo constructed in 1971....at this point she just put in an offer.

it will be subject to the inspection....she is going to walkthrough with the inspector.

is there anything she should be on the lookout for?

she has been watching TV home improvement shows...and wants make sure the inspector is doing a good job.

I setup a dash cam. I never needed one before, but I set one up anyway.

When/if I get into an accident (or witness an accident)….do I have to tell the police that I have a dash cam?

Will the cop confiscate my camera and take it into evidence? I don’t want my camera taken.

I am thinking if I witness something, then not mention the dash cam…then i can post it on youtube, and say I forgot about it.

Or if a cause an accident, just not say anything. Will I get into any trouble if the other person lies, like he claims 3 other injured passengers that weren’t really there….then I say “oh ya, I got it on video”?

Just wondering what the best course of action is at the scene.

My current video card was a FX8600GT 256M...it came with the late 2007 computer...it doesnt work anymore.

my receipt list says my motherboard is a GBT s775 P35 DDR-2 GA-P35 if that helps.

the computer is Intel Q6600 2.4 s775 SLACRX

what kind of new Video Card can i get that i can just plug in?
