Looking for a middle name for Anastasia?
We are looking for a middle name for our daughter. In keeping with the tradition we started with our first daughter, we would like a name that is ONE syllable. We're open to any type of name; origin and spelling are not big factors.
Thanks for the help!!
13 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoWhat are the chances that I'm pregnant?
First off, I'm serious. I'm a mother of one who is looking to expand her family, but my daughter was born with little trying (my husband knocked it out of the park on the first try) and I'm completely unfamiliar with conception issues.
I had the Mirena IUC for two years. I had it removed on September 9th. I got my first period on September 13th. If I had a regular cycle (which I don't), my period is scheduled to have started on October 11th. It hasn't started yet. I know it's only been two days, but I'm not having any period signs that usually come along with my pre-period time.
My husband and I decided to start trying on October 10th. Now, I know that wouldn't normally be a fertile day, but I want to know if anyone has any insight into whether or not it is possible or probable that I could get pregnant from that attempt.
I did have a thickening of mucous the day before and on the 10th, which I thought meant ovulation, but I'm not quite sure.
I know that I have to wait for a pregnancy test until the end of the month to check.
I'm not worried about being pregnant, and if I'm not it is no big deal, I'm merely curious to hear from someone who knows more about fertility and conception issues.
Thanks in advance for your help!

These are the four names we're choosing from... I don't need any suggestions for new names, I'm just wondering if any of these combinations is particularly bad/good. I guess I'm just looking for a vote on which of the four name combinations is the best/worst and a short reason why.
12 AnswersBaby Names1 decade ago"Short" sign name in ASL?
My daughter is nearly 5 months old. We are teaching her sign language to help her language skills develop. Her name, Evangeline, is too long to fingerspell effectively.
We are thinking about creating a "short" sign name for her, but everywhere I've read says that it HAS to be given to you by a deaf person. We don't know anyone in the deaf community.
We're not planning on using it anywhere other than inside our house, but I don't want to offend someone by unknowingly using a sign that means something else.
We were thinking about using a sideways "W" sign (fingers together instead of splayed) palm facing inwards, and tapping it on our open left palm twice.
Just wondering if it is an actual ASL sign and if it means anything...
3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoAge for teething...?
I just spoke with the advice nurse at our pediatrician's office. She told me that it sounds like our daughter is teething. She offered the generic Tylenol advice and cold chewie toys...
My daughter is 11 weeks old. She is drooling like there's no tomorrow, chewing on her hands (and our fingers if she's managed to capture them in her fat little fists), and has become Little Miss Cranky Pants (which is completely out of character for her).
Two questions in one...
Has anyone had their children start teething this early?
And...
What sort of soothing toys did you give them?
The nurse advised a cold washcloth since her mouth is so small that the traditional water filled toys are too big for her. I tried to give her one, she didn't want to chew on it, instead she chewed on the nipple to her bottle for a good 15 minutes. Any other ideas for chewies??
10 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoPeeing in the house...?
I have two pugs. They are father and son. The baby, who is 2 now, had urinary stones a year ago. He had surgery for them, but he still has trouble holding his bladder sometimes. Sometimes he leaks. *Which is annoying, but totally not his fault and not the problem.*
His dad, who is now almost 6, has to cover up EVERY single area where there is a minute amount of "leakage" from the baby. Also, he then goes on to mark several other areas in the house.
I am at my wits end. I clean up
"accidents" every morning and sometimes several times during the night.
We are going to crate them at night to see if it helps, but I am afraid that he will soak the crate in urine and the carpet underneath will be ruined.
Any ideas?
I have a baby on the way and I am desperate to find some semblance of a solution that will work before the baby arrives in March.
At this point, we have tried puppy pads, obedience trainging, taking them out to go potty at night several times.
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoNose bleeds?
30 weeks 6 days pregnant...
I had a nose bleed yesterday, which "What to Expect" said was normal.
It wasn't gushing blood, in fact, it was only an annoyance a few times throughout the day. Mainly when it started to feel like I had a runny nose and I blew my nose. There was a little bit of blood.
I called my OB's office to ask an unrelated question and thought I would double check about the nose bleed issue. They were TERRIBLY worried and told me if it didn't stop in the next 10-15 minutes to come in ASAP.
It stopped a few hours later, but I thought it was silly to go to the ER in the early night for a nose bleed that wasn't even bleeding. Has anyone else had this happen? Did you go see a doctor?
9 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoLabor and Delivery?
At first, when my Mom asked who would be my birthing coach, I told her that my husband had volunteered (bravely) for the job. She had accepted that my husband and I would be the only ones in the room when I actually gave birth. It turns out that my hospital allows there to be more than one person in the room with you throughout the labor and delivery process and now that we know she can be there, she's gung ho to be there for me through the whole process. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there had both their coach and another (non-medical) person in the room with them during the actual birth. Any experiences to share?
14 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoFirst Time Mom Fears?
Here's the scoop. I'm 12 weeks 3 days pregnant. I've been to see an OB/GYN and I've had an ultrasound. I even got to listen to the baby's heartbeat at the last appointment. I haven't had any cramping, bleeding, or anything else that's listed on my doctor's charts as indicators of miscarriage. Why do I feel like I'm not pregnant? Is it normal to be afraid that something has happened? I haven't put on any weight yet, as I just got over my morning sickness. I am experiencing all the normal signs and symptoms of being 12 weeks pregnant, I just don't feel like I am. I don't want to call my doctor and sound like a paranoid first time pregnant woman. I'm just wondering if someone else out there went through this with their first (or another) pregnancy.
