Math question about minimum value?
Two positive numbers x and y vary in such a way that 128x^2 - 16x^2y + 1 =0.
Find the minimum value of x+y and show that this value is indeed minimum.
I tried differentiating and finding and simplifying to get y=(1/16)x^-2 +8 which doesn't even have a turning point. Help?

I know that caramel is made of burnt sugar so it doesn't seem to make sense that the tea's made of that too. Any ideas?
4 AnswersNon-Alcoholic Drinks9 years agoIs centripetal acceleration proportional to r or 1/r?
ac= wr = v^2/r
so is it proportional to r or 1/r?
Also, does centripetal acceleration increase for the edges of a rotating disc as its radius gets bigger?
If so, how come planets which are further away from the Sun have a smaller centripetal acceleration?

5 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoI need help identifying an old movie (ca 1950s-1970s)...?
I don't remember what language it was in but here is what I do remember:
Setting was Europe, probably western or mediterranean.
The main character(s) was/were male.
There was a very large diamond hidden behind the steering wheel.
A scene towards the end of the movie is a man hurling a radiator over a cliff into the sea. He has driven it to this place, gets out and throws the radiator over. I seem to recall diamonds being in it as well.
I think that maybe it's a Louise de Funes film but I haven't been able to find many summaries. He filmed lots and in French & I don't speak French.
Does it ring a bell in anyone's head? Sorry about the obscure details but I saw it when I was four or five years old and really don't remember more.

If x and y are positive numbers greater than 1, and if x^(x+y)=y^12 and y^(x+y)=x^3, prove that lgx=2lgy. Hence, find the value of x and y.

1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoHow do I contribute to my sports team?
I just joined the netball team 2 weeks ago and I've been for a few training sessions. All the others have been at it for at least 2 years. Recently, the team participated in a competition and after watching them play competitively, I'm 100% sure that I am never going to be good enough to get on court (I only have 7 months left), so how can I contribute to the team, even though I know that I'm never going to play anyway?

Okay, I need to say "At the beginning, they go (as in travel) to their school"
So would that be:
Am Anfang gehen sie in der Schule.
or
Am Anfang gehen sie nach der Schule.
Or is it something else again?

Kino and Borders have a small variety and ordering carries the risk that I won't like the play at all once it arrives. Choosing something good from short descriptions over the internet isn't easy.
Does anyone know any specialised libraries, maybe?
