  • What is with people and liking prequels so much (Star Wars in particular)? Would you prefer a sequel instead?

Star Wars is coming out with an anthology film called Rouge One on December 2016. It's a separate trilogy and set between episodes III and IV and involves a group of Rebels stealing plans for the Death Star in order to find a way to destroy it.

Don't get me wrong; I am excited for this so called "realistic war movie" but Isn't it a but disappointing that they have to set it in a time in Star Wars that we're already so familiar with? Anyone who's watched Star Wars (lots of people) knows the Empire will still get to use the Death Star before it is eventually destroyed anyway.

Prequels may compromise any surprise factor (unless there's a mega twist) since you already know what will happen in the future. Would you not prefer to see a film that is set, say, a little after or even during the events of Episode VII in another part of the galaxy?

  • Is it really bad for white women to wear hair styles that are considered "African"? Why?

Shouldn't, them, black girls not be allowed to dye blonde or straighten their hair?

  • Why is are deaths in one country more news worthy than deaths in another?

When a white cop shoots a black teen in the USA it's world wide news. People protest everywhere. The dashcam video of the killing is played over and over.

In Tunisia a bus bomb goes off killing 20. Not too long ago, a Pakistani school yard is attacked by extremists and well over a hundred children die. Both stories are mentioned only in passing.

In the USA a deranged young man kills 20-30 students, there is non-stop talk for months on end.

  • How do you learn spells in Planescape: Torment?

I just started playing the 1999 game Planescape Torment because I heard the sequel is coming out this year or next.

Anyway, when I started the game, I maxed out on intelligence and charisma because I wanted a mage-like character.

I know it was a bit of a risk for a player starting off, but I heard the fights in this game are quite easy since this is more of a narrative-driven experience than a violent one.

I thought being an intelligent and charismatic character would make an interesting challenge.

But so far I’ve been doing nothing but picking up bats and knives and scalpels, hacking and slashing people, and frequently missing. I sorely want to start casting spells but I don’t know where to go/what to do.

  • Is it fair to criticize caucasian women for having "african" hair (ex. afro)?

I think the whole cultural appropriation thing is stupid. If white women can't have afros (because they're not african) then why can black people comb their hair to the side or part it without anyone complaining? Or even wear suits for that matter? Or even drive cars?

  • How do you solve for x when you are given two fractions with x in their denominators?

    30/x - 30/2x = 3

(that is, thirty over 'x' minus thirty over '2x' equals three)

How do you get x in this case?

  • What is up with the #blacklivesmatter hastag? (Pls refer to the details below)?

If "black lives matter" then why don't protesters just go to the ghettos and yell at the black gangsters who perpetuate a vast majority of black deaths?

  • Why are there only punching bags shaped like men and none shaped like women?

Why is it perfectly acceptable for people of both sexes to be seen hitting the shape of a man and not a woman?

It seems like society is conditioned to believe that hitting men is perfectly acceptable

  • How can I improve my guitar playing if I am not around other guitar players? What can I add to my regular practice?

As a beginner guitarist (almost 7 months in) I am the only one among my friends who is interested in learning and making music.

The one who influenced me to play instructs me sometimes but not nearly as often as I'd like because our schedules are different.

  • Is Islam to blame for the negative portrayal of Muslims in media or are Muslims themselves to blame?

    My opinion:

I believe Islam in general is for peace but here's what bothers me...

I am not sure if media is to blame for its negative portrayal of Muslims because the media will just broadcast what it sees and what it thinks it knows. I think the burden of being exposed in a more positive light falls on Muslims themselves. It's their religion and it's their problem on how to get themselves on the forefront of the media, stand before cameras, and defend Islam.

They like to blame a "biased" media on how they're so negatively portrayed in the news and have no control over it...

But it's also hard for me to believe that there are billions of Muslims in the world (who also say Islam is the fastest growing religion) yet have no traction in the media.

I hope I get some sensible opinions here. I'm just trying to make some kind of meaning of the world around me. Sometimes I encounter things that have me stumped.

  • Is it possible to install a program that places a password in your external hard drive?

I bought an Elements External Hard Drive but it's a very plain version. It's pretty much a 1 Terabyte dumpster that anyone can access if they plug it.

Is there a program I can download, a SAFE one, that installs a password into it? (Or at least a protection program that may slightly inconvenience a thief if one manages to steal it?)

  • Beginner guitar player here suffering from information overload. Can anyone help give me a structured practice schedule?

I have been getting material from the internet to help me learn how to play. I realize that all this information becomes confusing eventually.

Here is my schedule. Please critique it.

    1. Strumming/chord switching practice

    2. Scale memorization (learn a few positions at a time, one key at a time)

    3. Technique practice (ie. hammer-ons/pull-offs, dexterity, etc)

    3. Song practice

    4. Improvisation practice

and maybe twice a week I'll read up on theory and creation of scales and chords.

Is this a thorough practice plan? Do I need to add anything else? I'm doing guitar as a hobby, not for a career, but I also want to sound great in a few years.

  • Why do the folders in my external hard drive display incorrect size?

The folders in my external hard drive (1 Terabyte) do not display the correct sizes. For example:

It says my 'Movies' folder is 489 kb. When in actuality the entire space is 243 Gigabytes.

    Long story short:

A while ago, I could not open any of my folders due to a malware problem. When I right-click a file and look in the 'Shortcuts Tab' it says under the 'Target' field:

    "E:\yaooqx.exe F:Movies"

All I did was remove the 'E:\yaooqx.exe' part, leave the 'F:Movies' part, and now I can open the folder and watch my movies. But the file size displayed is still wrong and that bothers me.

How do I get my folders to display the correct file size? And yes, I have scanned my external HD and no threat was reported.

  • Will deleting Malware from portable hard drive also delete my files?

If I scanned my portable hard drive (1 TB) and found malware should i delete it?

  • Malware Question for experts: What computer infected the portable hard drive? Was it mine?

(I scanned my computer and cleaned any virus that was there at least an hour before doing this)

I plugged my brother's portable hard drive to my PC and put a few artist's albums into it. Then I removed the hard drive, plugged it into his laptop to use his Itunes. His hard drive worked fine and I was able to move the some of my songs into his laptop.

The next morning, he texts me at work saying he removed his hard drive from his laptop, plugged it into my parents' computer and discovered malware. He says he can't open his files.

He says the virus came from my computer and couldn't have been from his laptop because, like him, his laptop is so perfect and never makes any mistakes. He also says the malware couldn't have originated from my parent's computer because it is "brand new" (3 months old at the very least, likely more than that).

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Admittedly, both my brother and I do a lot of downloading in our own computers. My parents never.

  • Should vampires be horrifying or sexy? (Protip: they can't be both)?

Let's not jump on the bandwagon and hate on Twilight. Sure that franchise sucks but there have been lame or "un-scary" vampires even before that series existed.

The problem is, personally I cannot ever find supermodel-looking vampires scary at all even when they're clearly meant to be. That type of vampire, however, seems to be the trend nowadays. I may not find them as note-worthy as their more grotesque counterparts but maybe you disagree with me.

What type of vampires do YOU prefer and WHY? The sexy sultry ones like in True Blood, Interview with a Vampire, Underworld, and the (upcoming) Dracula Untold? Or do you prefer the nightmarish type like From Dusk Til Dawn part 1, Stakeland, Blade II, Salem's Lot, and the (upcoming) TV series "The Strain"?

Check out how they look in The Strain
