Card Games1 month agoIf transportation was much slower in the past, then how did big empires arise?
A lot of the largest empires in history like the Mongol Empire and the Roman Empire and the Abbasid Caliphate were created thousands of years before automobiles or planes or steamboats. Yet, these empires still stretched for millions of square miles. How did a central authority administer all of that land and traveled from province to province before telecommunications?
2 AnswersHistory2 months agoWhy is Warhammer 40,000 popular?
The entire setting is dark and depressing. The game rules are very complicated and have tons of randomness. And it costs a heavy investment of time and money to get into the franchise.
2 AnswersVideo & Online Games3 months agoHas a civilian jail or prison ever been invaded?
Have men with guns ever forced their entry into a jail or prison, kill the officers there, and free who they wanted to free? Military conflicts do not count.
2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police3 months agoWhy is Michael Jordan more popular than other GOATs like Wayne Gretzky and Babe Ruth and Pele and Muhammad Ali?
Even if Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time, why is there still so much attention on him almost two decades after he retired for good? Hall of Fame athletes from other sports do not get all these films and commercials and ESPN attention on them?
Nike is pretty much keeping the legend of MJ alive just so they can sell more sneakers. If it wasn't for his shoe line, people wouldn't pay any more attention to Michael Jordan than they do to Joe Montana or any other phenomenal athlete.
5 AnswersBasketball7 months agoWhy did Protestantism die out in Europe but Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy is still doing fine?
Many of the historically Protestant countries like the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, UK, etc. are now very irreligious countries but historically Catholic countries like Italy and Spain and historically Eastern Orthodox countries like Greece and Ukraine are still very Christian (even though their Church attendance rates aren't very high). Even the Catholic minorities in the Protestant countries I mentioned are still observant to the point where they outnumbered the Protestants in countries like the Netherlands and a few others. The only historically Catholic and Orthodox countries I can think of that are now quite irreligious are France and Russia respectively.
What caused this divergence? Was it the focus on individual spirituality in Protestantism or was it pure coincidence not based on Theology?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 months agoWhy do Western Europeans pretend they're less racist than Americans?
The same Western Europeans that started brutal colonial empires and persecuted Jews for millennia. The same Western Europeans that kicked out or enslaved or massacred Gypsies wherever they were found. The same Western Europeans that elect xenophobic far-right parties after every immigration wave. The same Western Europeans that throw bananas at African football (soccer) players. The same Western Europeans that have offensive blackface traditions like Zwarte Piet and The Black and White Minstrel Show.
Europeans aren't any more tolerant than their descendants in the USA.The only difference was that Europe committed their atrocities in overseas colonies within Africa, Asia, the Americas, etc. while the USA oppressed Blacks and Natives on American soil it annexed. The cruel thing is that the United States has finally learned this lesson and does a lot of its current persecuting in the Middle East which it has bombed and killed in for at least the last two decades.
1 AnswerOther - Cultures & Groups9 months agoIs Russia pretty much Mexico with Nukes?
https://countryeconomy.com/countries/compare/mexic...
Russia and Mexico have similar population sizes. A similar GDP. A similar life expectancy. A similar amount of irrigated land. Both countries suffer from organized crime or corruption. Why is one nation a major threat while the other is an American puppet state?
All Russia has over Mexico is its military and fields of frozen land. Otherwise, neither nation is becoming a great power anytime soon.

11 AnswersPolitics11 months agoWhy do conservatives think Chicago is majority-Black?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago#Demographics
Chicago always get listed as one of the failed Democratic Black cities along with Detroit and Baltimore and Saint Louis despite the fact that Chicago is only 1/3rd Black and Hispanics are starting to outnumber African-Americans there.
