Can I substitute in this recipe? Chow Mein Noodle Bars?
I want to make these Bars and do not have light cream. Actually I don't really want to buy a pint or quart (or whatever size cream comes in) of cream and waste the rest. SO my question is what can I sub for it? Whole milk? Would that work? What do you think? Thanks!!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
5 cups miniature marshmallows 1 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 tablespoon light cream
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 cups chow mein noodles
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
2. In a medium bowl, cream together the margarine and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Stir in the flour; the mixture should be crumbly. Sprinkle over the bottom of the prepared pan and pack down to cover.
3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly toasted. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. When the chips have softened enough, spread them over the crust.
4. In a heat-proof bowl over simmering water, or in the microwave, combine the marshmallows, peanut butter, brown sugar and light cream. Cook, stirring occasionally until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the chow mein noodles. Spread on top of the chocolate layer of the crust. Let cool before cutting into squares.

6 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoThanksgiving for 30 people?
I am hosting thanksgiving this year at my house. I am expecting about 30 people. I just need some suggestions on potato recipes and any other pointers you can give me. This is my first ( Big ) thing to host, so I am a little nervous. I am in charge of the fried turkey, roasted pork loin, rolls, potatoes and drinks. Everybody else bring a dish (side, or dessert) Can you think of anything that will make the day a little smoother?
Thanks!

3 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoCan I substitute milk with nonfat dry milk to make pudding?
I know you can sub the dry milk when you cook something, but with (instant) pudding I don't know it the dry milk would leave a weird taste. Do you do this or should I just use regular milk to make it?
Thanks!

My son is turning 3 and we are having a B-day party for him this weekend. We are grilling hamburgers, hotdogs, and brats. I am making baked beans and need something else to go with it. I wanted it to be simple. Anyone have some good recipes for a pasta salad. Something with veggies. I looked on all recipes and really couldn't find what I was looking for.
Any suggestions would be great.

4 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoPotty training setback? almost 3?
My son is almost 3 years old. He has been potty trained for about 3 or 4 months now (daytime) and a month or some with nighttime and naps. Now last night I asked him if he wanted to only wear underwear to bed (previously had worn only a diaper to bed) it ended up he wore a diaper, but in the morning he was wet! Is this normal? He has been waking up dry and I say something and then the next day he goes pee in his diaper.
What do you think?

6 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoDo you rinse your chicken before you cook it?
Some recipes call you to rinse and pat dry. I know about Salmonella, so cooking the chicken to the appropriate temperature should take care of the problem. Wouldn't rinsing raise the risk of spreading potential bacteria in the sink and counter?

He is putting 15% of his check into a 401K (company has a .50 cent on the dollar match) and I put only 50 dollars a paycheck away in a "401K” My question is, should we be putting some additional money in to a savings accoun? Not just the retirement? accounts?
