  • need help finding the name of a book?

Once as a child I read a book about a witch and her children who lived on a glass mountain. This goes back to the early 70's. I'd like to try to find a copy for my grand daughter. Thank you!

  • physical signs of type-2 diabetes?

What are the signs of diabetes? How do you know you have it? Some diseases have definite indications that something is going on there, but what about this? Do tell me, please?

  • Should the name of the holiday be changed?

Isn't it silly to call a holiday christmas when as it is - it has nothing to do with Jesus? Add to that the fact that Jesus was born in the springtime, not on December 25th. Add to that the fact that there is nothing in the celebration of Jesus' birth that has to do with buying presents for other people, fire hazards in the house - and outside, food for families, running up credit card debts, dangerous travel on road and sky.

I suggest the holiday be left at the date its on now but the name changed to "Give it to me" day. What do you think?

  • should drug addicts be allowed to collect welfare benefits?

If a person can't get a job because they can't pass a drug test because they won't stop smoking marijuana, should this person be allowed to collect food stamps or cash welfare? Is there any law against that? Shouldn't benefits like that be held for people who are unable to get work? Not people who are drug addicted and refuse to give up their habits so they could get work?

  • what do spiders eat in the winter time?

I have a small brown spider in the window, and no living food for it now that it's freezing outside. Is there something I can put in the web that it will eat so it doesn't die over the winter? There's no mites or flies or anything I can find in the house to feed it. Any suggestions?

  • What to do about my granddaughter's bum daddy?

My daughter's ex boyfriend won't help with expenses for their child. His drugs and smoking are more important. The state is finally going after him because she's lost her job and filed for state help. In Washington State is there anything to be done to force him to pay back support he lied about already paying? She said he paid her too, because she didn't want him to stop seeing their child, didn't want to fight with him about things. Rather just let him be happy. As for me - the outraged grandmother, I'd like to see him strung up by the testicles. Any suggestions for legal action? He said he's received notice that his wages are going to be garnished to pay current and forward support, but what about the 6 years of nothing he's gotten away with?

  • Why do we have a holiday to celebrate death?

We do know - don't we - that halloween is the celebration of death? Why do we allow our children to run around collecting candy and not telling them the real story behind the holiday? Shouldn't they know the truth and stay away from that creepy celebration? "All Hallows Eve" is the correct name, and if you look it up, you'll be shocked. It became a "holiday" so the candy companies could sell more candy. Shocking and sad. Besides with all the obesity in the US, do we really need an excuse for more empty calories to be consumed? How about handing out toothbrushes and dental floss instead of candy?

  • Help me name the kitten?

I'm adopting a 4-month old female. She's muted shades of black and silver, with yellow eyes. The shelter called her Marble, and that's fine, but not what I want to call her. I know cat's name themselves eventually, and will of course give her that chance. But hoping for some intelligent ideas, besides Zoey or Sophie - couple ideas I'm thinking about. Thanks!!

  • Hate the new Yahoo! Mail, can I switch back?

I was forced to switch with constant "clock is ticking" screen. So, I switched, and I hate it. I can't get my mail, I can't get to my IM screen, it keeps telling me I have an overload on level 2. I'm on dial up, so there's nothing to speed up or slow down, I just want my old usable yahoo mail back. Any suggestions?

  • I want to adopt a 4th cat into our home, any suggestions?

My boyfriend says 3 cats are enough and he's very unreceptive to any more cats. I have found this beautiful girl at the local shelter and want to adopt and bring her home, with his blessings of course. Any ideas for how to win him over to my side on this?

The three cats we have now were rescues, and they aren't going to be happy to have a little sister, I know, but "Zoey" has been raised in a foster home, she can use a pet door, and gets along well with strange cats, and I know she'll fit in fine, once she's here. If she's left in the shelter, she'll eventually end up being moved to a "no kill-life long shelter" because she's not very pretty really, except to me.

  • What does it mean if you dream of dead people?

Last night I dreamed of my parents, both deceased. In this dream my dad died first. Last week I dreamed of my long dead aunt trying to give me pills to kill myself with, and I couldn't write a suicide note to my daughter. I keep seeing these dead people in my dreams, what's going on?

I'm being asked to change over, and I'm interested in any views on the new mail. Is it through the beta stage and actually working? Will I lose my e-mail addresses?

I hate to just blindly jump without some input. Thanks.

  • Suggestions for car insurance?

I have preferred insurance and have been paying by the year for over 5 years with this company, with no claims in over 10 years. They have raised the entire states rates, and I'm not staying with them. Any suggestions? Any reviews on that little green lizard insurance company?

  • I need help remembering the name of an old toy?

over 40 years ago, used to put discs in it and look through the 2 lenses. The slides were great 3D for that time, and you'd change the picture by pushing a slide down the side of the viewer. You could read the story on the discs through the view finders. Was it something like Magic Viewer? I'd love to try to find one for my granddaughter.

  • how long do vegetable seeds last?

I found some seeds from 1988 and 1997 (cantaloupe and corn). I know I can plant the darn things and find out if they're viable, but I was wondering what the general consensus is?

  • how to stop being a sugar addict?

I know there's no magic pill. I know it's a will power thing. I realize all that, but still I put food in my mouth without really thinking about it. Don't often taste it either, its just something to chew on.

I consider myself healthy with 30 pounds to loose. I hike, bike, work hard, and eat well, except for this addiction to sugar.

Any suggestions before this becomes my death sentence by way of diabetes or something?

  • Is the dentist lying to me?

I have been told by this dentist on several different teeth that I need root canals and crowns in order to deal with this problem. The periodontist tells me that root canals won't help the pockets. Now I'm against the wall with this dentist. I have a bad pocket and he refuses to treat me unless I agree to the root canal. His secretary warned off the periodontists office, saying I'm refusing treatment.

No, I'm not refusing treatment, I'm refusing to pay around $2,000 for something he won't guarantee will stop the perio- pockets.

The hygienist can get in there and clean out the pocket, and has been doing so right along. This particular tooth, however, the dentists insists now on a root canal and that's it - period.

So -I'm considering changing dentists because I think he just wants money.

What does the general public think?
