  • My Dogs in labour any idea on timescale's?

    Hello,

Puggy has finally gone into labour, she has been nesting and i can feel her belly contracting. She is restless for about 10 mins then sleeps for about 40, she was settle in welping box but is back at my feet.

She has just starting panting, not a lot just now and then.

I am not interfering with her just sitting quietly in the room as she follows me if i leave.

MY QUESTION Im really tierd sat up with her last night and could do with some sleep but im worried about sleeping through if she needs me, her waters have not gone yet.

Am i a couple of hours away from my babies arriving or is this something thats about ready to happen? its mums 1st litter, she is doing well and a lot calmer that I was giving birth lol.

    Thanks

  • RE C-section and Thank you?

I have just got back from the vets, She agreed with me my puggy is quiet content and pups all seem happy, she felt that a c-section wont be needed but gave me her mobile incase we have problems over the weekend as she is on call.

She examined puggy and confirmed that was her plug that came away yesterday and that she has started to dialate.

She said finally to get some rest because in a few hours things will get started.

She also said although my scan showed about 3 she is carrying a wide load so dont think after 3 its bed time because she is sure there is a few more in there LOL :-O.

So thank you so much for all the advice I felt more armed going in to see vet.

I will kepp you up to date with whats going on and feel free to start a book on how many are coming out lol

    Take care

  • Vet is talking c-section I dont want to advice really needed?

    Hi all,

Those of you have been following my girl is full term and if she convieved on the 1st date of locking was due wed.

Temp started to drop wed and has been between 98 and 98.4 since late wed night.

She is healthy and happy reduced appitite but nibbling Pups are moving about lots.

She lost a snotty looking goo yesterday about the size of a penny but she isnt nesting yet nor is she restless or in any pain, just chillded out laying around.

My vet says because she is a shi-tzu X pug there is a good chance she needs a c-section yet the breeders ive spoke to said that its more common but not a dead cert.

Now im under the impression that my dog has clearly concieved a few days after her 1st tie but the vet has asked me to go in to discuse a section.

Am I a bad owner in think that while mum and pups are happy with being a pregnancy I should wait for nature to kick in, I think putting my dog through surgery that she may well not need or to risk prem pups is unnessasary?

  • Still no puppys?????

    Afternoon all,

Those of you who have been so helpful with my dog just letting you know she is trying to break the worlds longest preganacy record lol.

She is on day 65 her temp has been at 98 for 36 hours but she isnt looking like she wants to part with her little bundles lol. I presume that conception happened a few days after she tied as she is doing well and pups are bouncing around in there, She has had reg prenatal care and the vet is not to worried she listened in on pups heartrates ect and they sound happy, But she has said if they have not started to pop out by tomorrow then my girl needs to go back in for a little look-see.

fingers crossed she goes tonight i havent had a decent nights sleep for waiting in days lol

  • Dog all dogs stop eating in labour?

    Evening all,

My dog is on day 63 she lost discharge 2 days ago but no pups, I took her to the vet today just for a check up and to make sure everything is fine, she got a clean bill of health.

The vet took her temp which was at 100.3 and said i should temp every 2 hours to make sure its going down. which i have it slowly dropped down and was at 98.4 last time I took it.

I have left her alone now and dont see that it serves any other benefit taking her temp anymore tonight. Everything ive read says the dog will refuse any food is this true? she lost her appitite yesterday but still picks at a little bit of food when offered? She isn nesting all she does is follow me around and sleep?

So how true is the food thing will all dogs refuses everything or is it just most dogs?

    Thanks

  • Pregnant dog temp dropping?

    Hiya,

Puggy has still not had the pups so I took her to the vets today to make sure everything is ok? today is day 63.

Vet said that cervex is closed but temp was at 100.3 which was low and a good sign that things are happening. and told me to keep an eye on her temp.

I have just done temp with my digital thermomitor at it came in a 99.7 so def on its way down, I asked the vet how long it should be before i should keep an eye out for pushin stage but she said anytime upto 24 hours? have you all found that? just so i know weather to get the kids to bed early so that my girl gets some peace and quiet.

    Take care

    xx

I should just add that she is still nibbling at food but her appitite went downhill from last night?

  • Bored of waiting for puppies to arrive?

    Morning,

My dog is on day 62 of her pregnancy, she started leaking clear goo yesterday which the vet said shoulds like a show of sorts, she went off her food last night but then started to eat again today.

All she is doing is sleeping def not straining or contracting she was very restless last night but calm today, And the puppies are very active.

I have so much to do but I dont want to go out and leave her alone as I know it could happen at any time and as its her 1st litter i need to keep an eye on her. Im just bored of waiting for them to arrive lol. I dont want to take her for a little walk to get things going as she will need all her energy soon enough.

anyway thanks for listening and idea's or storys on how long your own dogs took would help pass the time lol

  • Discharge from pregnant dog?

    Evening everyone,

My Dog is on day 60 of her pregnancy I have just been stroking her tummy and noticed that she has a clear discharg coming from her? it looks gooey as its more of an ooze (sorry graphic) its completely clear and i can feel the pups are bouncing around like a little disco divas so they are happy. She has been grooming lots, but doesnt seem to be in pain or panting ect? I presume that this is a show? but what are the normal timescales between this and the birth?

    Thanks in advance

  • Pregnant dogs teats are full and darkening?

I am just wondering if this is a sign that my dog is due sooner rather than later? I was under the assumption that she is due between 11 and 20 days.

Today her teats suddenly look very swollen and have started to look bruised in colour?, they did pink up about 10 days ago.

Today her belly looks like it has dropped as you can notice it when she walks and she has developed a pregnant woman waddle which is funny. I can feel slight puppy kicks and she hasnt started nesting yet although is starting to get restless and paces a lot.

Im just worried that I may get a shock delievery sooner than i thought? any thoughts?

Sorry should add my dog has been to the vets and has had a scan to confirm the pregnancy.

But the vet has said she cant confirm the date she due as she may well have falled pregnant and any time during the 10 days she was willing to mate. And that the symptoms will be the best way to see if she is coming sooner. Im more worried she seems more advanced in the pregnancy than 52 days.

I have got a toddler paddling pool for a whelping bed as she can climb in and out with ease but pups wont be able o until they are 3/4 weeks also very easy to clean and have some bedding and hot water bottle at the ready as well as dental floss(unflavoured lol) for the cord just in case.

  • What day is the start of the pregnancy???

    Hello,

My B1tch 1st mated 9 jan last 19 Jan, I have taken her to the vets and a scan has confirmed preg with at least 3 pups. What date do i start counting the 63 days from? the vet said count from day 12 of session only my dog is not much of a bleeder so i couldnt tell you other that she became moody. I presume that from the 1st time she locked is day 1, but I am now worried that im wrong? I have cleared everything in my diary from 13 days from now (she has 16 days left).

Can anyone please confirm when day 1 really is as the vet wasnt helpful?

    Thank you
