  • Anyone else have a toddler boy that tucks?

My son (age 3 1/2) was recently potty trained and has since started tucking his penis. He is a bit larger than other boys his age, but I have never seen any others boys do this before (I have worked in day cares and nurseries). He is super insistent on it and I am not sure why. Just wondered if anyone else has been through this. Thanks in advance for answers!

  • What is the best medication for postpartum?

I am suffering from postpartum that was left untreated after the birth of my children (youngest just turned 2). It has escalated pretty bad (not meaning harming myself or others/suicidal) and I have started to see a therapist. She recommended due to the high amount of anxiety and feelings of depression that I start taking an anti-depressant.

I don't usually like the thought of drugs but I am to the point where I just want to feel normal. I don't want to be a zombie but I want to enjoy life again. Has anyone had any experience with anti-depressants for postpartum? Did you like what you were on? What were the side affects? Did it help you?

Not sure if this information is necessary, but I had 2 normal pregnancies, both ending in c-sections. I am 31 years old and don't drink, smoke or do any other drugs. I am healthy other than the bit of "crazy" I am experiencing.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

  • Make kitten pooping (diarrhea) in my kids rooms?

I just got a 3 month old male kitten last week and he is great except at night he poops in my kids rooms. My oldest usually gets out of bed at 5 am and gets into my bed. At that point the kitten will go into his room and poop all over the floor. Between 5 am and when my kids wake up at about 7 am he will poop between 1 and 4 times. When I tried to make sure my kids rooms were shut all night he pooped just right outside of their rooms. I have tried putting a litter box upstairs and he doesn't use it. He uses the litterbox downstairs just fine every other time. I am so tired of cleaning puddles of diarrhea...any suggestions?

  • SAHMs - what does your day consist of?

I am a SAHM to a 2 1/2 year old and a 1 year old. I find that I am in constant struggle with how much I should be interacting with the kids and balancing housework.

They play well on their own so sometimes I take advantage of that to get things done. Some moms I know only cook/clean when their kids nap or are in bed for the night and they spend the entire day teaching/playing with their kids. Other moms I know don't interact with their kids hardly at all.

I just wanted to see what other moms did (other than the handful of SAHMs that I know) during the day and how they balance everything.

  • Need help from Picasa users!?

I am trying to upload pictures from my sisters camera onto my Picasa. I have been doing so with my camera and there have been no problems. When I try to do it from hers here is what happens:

1 - Cycles through all the pictures and says "Loading x files"

2 - Starts to copy the files, but says "Copying 235 files". She has 656 on her camera that should be visible.

3 - 656 thumbnails show up but only 235 show up as the actual pictures. The rest are just a gray colored box.

4 - When I try to import the gray box thumbnails it says "Import Selected (0).

Can anyone help me out with this?

    Thanks in advance!

  • What is the best over-the-counter diet pill?

I am having a very hard time losing the last 20-30 lbs after having a baby (had 2 babies 15 months apart both via c-section). Right now I do not have much time to exercise, but that will change in about a month (my husband is deployed and I have my hands full). I need something that really helps to get rid of cravings. I eat all the time, even when I am not hungry. Any suggestions?

  • What is wrong with my toddler?

About 4 nights ago my 2 year old woke up in the middle of the night and wouldn't stop crying. I finally went in to console him but he wouldn't go back to bed at all. He was up from 1am - 6:30am. Ever since that night he has been a totally different boy. He is clingy, fussy, always hitting me, throwing things... I have tried time-outs, spanking, ignoring, and holding him but nothing is working. He fights sleep at nap and night time and has never done that before. Last night he cried an hour and a half before he fell asleep! He doesn't want to be strapped down at meal time but is OK with being in the stroller and car seat.

Here are a few things that I think might be affecting it, but I would really appreciate the ideas of others and how I can deal with it.

*My husband deployed a month ago

*I have been switching furniture around and painting the house

*He is getting a molar in

*He just turned 2 today (terrible 2s setting in?)

*We have had more visitors than normal (people checking in on me, etc...)

Has anyone been through this? How long did it last? How did you deal with it?

  • Crib mobile...pros and cons?

I have a 7 month old. I am trying to work on getting him to fall asleep (and stay asleep) without being held and rocked to sleep when I put him down to bed. I would have no issues with letting him cry a bit, but my other son's room is right next to his. My house is an open floor plan so it is hard to let him cry for an extended period of time without waking everyone else up, too.

I was thinking of getting a mobile - one with a remote and everything. What are everyone's thoughts on mobiles - specially since he is already 7 months old. If you are pro-mobile, what brand/type is your favorite?

  • Any advice on how to get an almost 7 month old baby to take a bottle?

I am currently breastfeeding him - and have been since birth - but plan on weaning him at the beginning of October. Every once in a while I have been trying to give him a bottle to see how he will react to it. He will not take a bottle at all. I have tried the "just like a real nipple" nipples for the bottles, different bottles, different times of the day, nursing him then sticking the bottle in his mouth, breast milk in the bottle, and different types of formula. Any advice?

  • Would you consider reporting a sibling for child abuse?

I feel horrible for my sister's children. They are 5 years and 3 years old.

My sister is on welfare...not because she needs it but because she doesn't want to work. On quite a few occasions they have ran out of essential items in the house like soap (dish, laundry, and body soap), milk, diapers, etc... because her and her boyfriend need money for cigarettes and weed (they smoke daily). The kids barely have any clothes but sis and bf are both covered in tattoos.

As far as the abuse goes, it is not as bad as it could be, but it has elevated slowly. Both her and her bf smack the kids across the face (or whatever is handy to smack at the time) constantly - and hard. They both scream and yell at the kids all day long. When the kids were in diapers (the 3 year old is mostly potty trained...sis's bf said he won't buy anymore diapers for her so she "better not have any accidents") they would sit for hours with wet/dirty diapers. If the kids get to the point where she can't handle them she puts them in their room and tells them to go to bed. They have gone to bed at 4pm before! After they "go to bed" she smokes (pot) in the house to relax herself - while the kids are locked in the next room.

She has said that she "isn't one of those mothers that can sit and play with her kids." She is on her computer all day long and the kids run around and do whatever they want. If something breaks they get smacked...if they take too long to do something when she asks they get smacked.

There is so much more that goes on but I didn't want to get into everything...too much explaining!

I have looked it up online and I don't think that it qualifies for actual abuse, but is there a "lesser" form? I feel so bad for these kids...

  • What is the best brand/type of kayak?

I would like to surprise my husband with one, but I know nothing about them! He will be using it in lake water, doesn't fish, and can use it year round. I know they can get pretty expensive and I want to keep it lower to mid-range price wise if possible. Any suggestions?

  • Holy cow! What are the odds?!?

My husband and I were going to start trying for baby #2 in a few months. We have a 7 month old now and wanted them to be close in age. I was going to start weaning him from nursing at about 9 months and I figured then would be a good time to start trying.

I found out Saturday that I am pregnant! Wow! I have not had a period, I have been nursing, I have a tilted uterus, and my son is only 7 months old! I know that things happen, but it took us so long to get pregnant the first time that I never thought this would happen!

This is truly amazing to me! How close in age are your kids?

  • Need some details on teething! Anything would be appreciated. =)?

*How long did it take for the first tooth to poke through?

*Was it constant fussiness or here and there until the tooth?

*Did you see a bump, or bumps, under the gumline before the tooth/teeth came?

*What were the symptoms your child had?

*How old was your child when they got their first tooth?

  • What kind of things can I do to keep my 4 month old sleeping at night?

When I put him down at night he has been sleeping for about an hour and then waking up. I have tried quite a few different things and was wondering if this was normal.

During the day he takes about 4 naps - 45 minutes to 2 hours each. He goes to bed about 11:00 pm and is up for the day at about 5 am, waking 2 - 4 times during the night. What can I do to make sure he sleeps a little better at night?
