  • How common is it to test positive to being a carrier of C.F?.?

I have a 3 week old baby girl and I have just been told that the results from her heel prick blood test done in hospital show that she may have or at least be a carrier of this disease. I was wondering how common it is and what are people's experiences. She has to have another blood test and a sweat test also.

  • Continuing with Controlled Crying?

I have a five month old and have previously asked for advice on how to get her to self sooth.

I tried it tonight, and she went to sleep after only about 25 minutes of what i could only describe as whinging, not really crying. I checked on her at the 2 min, 5 min, 10 min and then she was basically asleep. I'm so pleased with her. The question I have now is, and it may seem a little stupid, Do I maintain this now with her naps during the day? Do I place her in her cot to put herself to sleep for every nap/sleep time from now on?. Everything I have read only discusses the putting down of the bub of a night, how to have a good night time routine etc. It doesn't go into whether or not I now do this all the time, for every sleep. How do I handle those times?

Any advice is very much welcome.

  • Going from the breast to the bottle?

I have a 5 month old who I breast feed. I have been working a few hours on a Sat, so I express for that morning. I will be working 5 hours a day, 5 days a week for a month, then going back full time 50+ hours a week ( the joys of management). As I don't want to be stuck expressing when I'm not at work, I want to begin weaning her off my breast and onto formula. I'm not sure how to cut down slowly to get her to take the bottle exclusively, and not have full painful breasts. Any ideas on how to slowly make this transition?

Is is still possible to breast feed the morning and evening feed if she'll allow it?

  • teaching my 5 month old to put herself to sleep?

I have a 5 month old baby girl, who has been sleeping for 8 to 10 hours a night since she was about 2 months old, the problem is, I am still rocking her to sleep, it used to be over my shoulder, now I do it in her pram before transferring her to her cot once asleep, How do I get her to be able to fall asleep on her own? I don't know how comfortable I am with letting her cry for long periods.
