Where is a good place for "Wine Tourism" besides Napa Valley (unpretentious wine vacation)?
Nothing against Napa but it just seems so over-the-top. Any places the wife and I could go with "Wine Tourism" stuff to do but maybe a little more low key than Napa or Sonoma? Or am I mis-reading this and maybe I should give Napa a chance after all. :-) Thanks in advance.
6 AnswersOther - United States1 decade agoHi Aussies... Need your best suggestions for a family trip next Christmas time?
The wife and I plus the kids (we have two girls 12 and 10) are planning to spend 3 weeks Down Under next December.
So my thought is: 1 week Sydney area, 1 week Melbourne area, 1 week Gold Coast/GBR. Seems a shame to leave out WA as it looks awesome but not sure we could fit it in.
We like to do "active" stuff and the kids are into wildlife so I'm thinking we'll hit a zoo or two plus maybe even run a local 5K and/or do a bunch of hiking etc.
Besides the obvious "must sees" what Australia sites/places/experiences would you recommend?
Thanks a bunch!
8 AnswersOther - Australia1 decade agoWhere can I find "travel magazine picture" turquoise water and white sand?
I've seen pictures in magazines etc. over the years of water that is an unbelievable turquoise blue. I've been to Puerto Rico, Florida, East and West Coasts of the US, parts of the Med, and never seen anything like these pictures. Where are they? Bonus if you can reference photo links! Thanks.
2 AnswersOther - Destinations1 decade agoWhat distance (exactly) is one lap (in lane one) on a standard US track?
I assume 1 lap on a track in lane one is 400m. Is this true? What about lane 8? Thanks.
10 AnswersRunning1 decade agoAre sprinters born or made?
My daughter is only 10 but as we've started running together I've noticed that (like her old man) she gets better (relatively) as the distance gets longer. On her soccer team she is middle of the road (speed wise) at sprinting. In gym class she is fastest in her class in the 3/4 mile run.
I'm curious if she can improve her sprinting. Can you make yourself a better sprinter or are you just fighting your "build"?
