What is your opinion?
I need opinions because Im kinda on the fence.
My situation: Back in August of last year, my employer, a large health system, outsourced my job doing transcription. I wasnt really shocked, but thought we had more time before it happened. Im now at a crossroads as to a new career. Im seriously considering taking online classes for Cyber Security through a local college (associate's). Is this worth it?
Ive researched until Im blue in the face about the profession, so that part is covered. I dont want to end up like before. Im pretty computer savvy, though Im a far cry from a pro. Im done with the medical profession. Im not the nursing type nor do I want to go through that many years of school. Plus, I dont like dealing with the public all that much. I have a job now, but its barely paying the bills and I want to do something better to support my family but still be able to work from home. So, who better to ask than IT folks, what's your opinion?
1 AnswerSecurity7 years agoProblems with external hard drive?
About a week and a half ago, I began having issues with my external hard drive. I bought a Dell Inspiron N5050 with Windows 7 OS. My external hard drive is a Seagate GoFlex Freeagent. My problem is I am being denied access to my external hard drive. I cannot go into my F drive through command prompt to see if I have the autorun virus. I know this virus can be a real bear to get rid of, so my questions are this:
1. How do I get rid of the autorun virus if I have it?
2. Has anybody else had this same problem and how did you solve it?
I am looking for links for preferably free removal tools, but would be willing to pay if need be. I have contacted Dell to no avail. They claim its an issue with the external drive itself. I have tried to open the same external hard drive on my old Windows XP computer and was also denied access, so this is acting just like the autorun virus. I need some real help. I will be contacting Seagate on Monday, but thought I would post here until then to see if any computer gurus out there could help me. Im at my wit's end!
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks9 years agoclaiming property casualty on taxes?
Has anyone done this? Hubby and I had a loss on our house due to ice damming and found out when using TurboTax that we can claim this. What papers did you use and where did you get your numbers? I am going to call the local IRS office, but I was just wondering what you did and if you had any problems with your return after filing. The county assessment on our home has went down and reading the instructions makes me even more confused. Thanks in advance!!
2 AnswersUnited States1 decade agogolden retriever skin condition?
I had to take my golden in to the vet a couple days ago for a skin condition. He has been getting a lot of hot spots lately and those I have been treating. Its what popped up on his underbelly that bothers me. He has spots that are scabbed or at least look scabbed and he has a rash that is almost like he is bruised. Vet checked him for fleas and all the usual suspects, but none found. They could not tell if he had an infection or allergic reaction. Right now, I am giving him both antibiotics and antihistamine. I was just wondering if anyone else had a pooch with the same problem and what helped it? I feel bad for him and feel like there is something I am missing. I dont think the meds have had enough time to work, but I dont have much patience when I want my pooch better. Thanks in advance. :)
4 AnswersDogs1 decade agoElectrical guessing game?
Long story short, I have a 2001 Firebird (V6). I went to move my car last night to let someone out. When I went to pull forward back into the parking spot, my radio shut off and I could not roll my windows down. I could smack the top of the dash above the radio and the radio would work, but then it shuts back off. It sounds like there is short of some type under the dash, but could this be my only problem? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
2 AnswersPontiac1 decade agoHelp with an overheating issue?
I have a 2001 Firebird with approx. 105k miles. It gave no indication of a problem and everything was fine until tonight on my way home from work. My check gauges came on and the gauge was pegged at 260. I had just looked at it a couple minutes earlier and everything was good. It gave no indication anything was wrong. No running warmer than normal, just nothing out of the ordinary in general. I am baffled because I regularly check my car and it was good on coolant on last check. I had replaced the thermostat about 2-3 years ago when it started running a little warmer than norm. I am going to replace the thermastat and the main radiator hoses tomorrow along with making sure it has plenty of coolant. What could possibly be wrong with my baby? This is my daily driver and I cannot afford to have it down. Thanks in advance!
3 AnswersPontiac1 decade agoHow does FTP work and is it easy to learn?
I am wanting to apply for a job at home but I have to know how FTP works. I have never heard of this and am wondering if it is hard to use/easy to learn? I am really wanting this job, but just kind of confused about how it works. If you can, put it in Layman terms as I am not very good with technical issues. Thanks!
4 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoDropshipping and Ebay?
I am thinking about starting an Ebay store using a dropship company. I was wondering how hard it was to start and maintain. I also would like to know if the item does not sell, if you have to pay for it or the listing? Do the companies pay for the listings or do you? I am not sure how it all works and some insight would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
1 AnswerSmall Business1 decade agoSurvey companies...Legit or not?
I have heard about a couple of them, one being Bigspot.com. I am wondering if these sites are actually legit. The reason why I ask is because I had seen an advertisement on TV for Bigspot.com. I realize that a lot of companies are scams, but I am needing feedback. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
3 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoSmoking and children?
This is not really a question but more a survey. Should parents be allowed to smoke around their children? Should pregnant women give up smoking upon finding out they are pregnant? I'm just curious as to your opinions.
20 AnswersParenting1 decade agoRelay/fuse question for Pontiac Firebird?
I had posted this question in another section, but figured I would try it to see what other answers I get.
This problem started just recently. My left side headlight had blown out, so I had replaced it. This was the first week of December. Approximately two weeks later, this new headlight is not working. I went back to the same place I had bought the headlight from and they let me swap out seeing as how a new one had expired so early. After placing the new headlight in and testing it to see if it worked, I found it did not work. I am figuring that it's a relay or fuse gone bad, but the Haynes manual I have only gives general information. I have looked at the fuse panels on both the inside of the car and under the hood and still cannot find it. My question is this...If it is only one headlight giving a problem, would/could this signal something bigger than a fuse or relay?
I am normally pretty good at figuring things out, but this continues to stump me. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoPontiac headlight problem?
I have a 2001 Firebird and just recently started with this problem. I had bought a new headlight to replace one that had blown the first week of December. Two weeks later, I thought the new headlight had blown since it did not come on. I went back to the place where I had bought the headlight two weeks previously and they let me switch them out. My problem is this: Even with a brand new headlight it still does not work. I have a feeling a fuse or relay has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Where is this? My Haynes bible tells me nothing and I know it cannot be that hard. Its the left side.
Im usually pretty good at figuring this kind of thing out, but this one is stumping me. Thanks in advance.

I need opinions on who you think is the better provider. I have already tried getting cable/high speed and it is not available where I live. I live pretty far out from town and in a rural area. Any opinions would be appreciated.
1 AnswerOther - Computers1 decade agoWhat is customary on this occasion?
I just found out tonight that the father of our local pastor's husband died last night from cancer. I want to be able to do something to help them out during this time since they will be busy making arrangements, etc. What foods are customary to make for this reason? I usually just send a sympathy card, but this family is closer than normal, especially since the pastor married my husband and I. Thanks for any help.
3 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoCurrent interest rates?
I was just wondering, what are the current interest rates for a mortgage? Have they dropped? If they have dropped, by how much? I have not been able to keep up with what has been going on recently. Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoQuestion about a betta?
One of my friends that I work with has a betta fish and he had been healthy until last week on Tuesday when he stopped eating and started acting out of character. We noticed that his scales were sticking out away from his body and immediately changed the water in his bowl. We continued to watch to see if he would improve, but he did not. She has since started treatment with hospital tanks and antibiotics along with aquarium salt (I think, not sure). He is acting better, but still has not ate. What she was worried about was when he defecated last night, it was stringy. It was clear but it looked like it had a red string in it. Is this a sign of internal parasites and, if so, which one so that we can start treatment for it. Any help would be appreciated.
5 AnswersFish1 decade agoWhat to do about my 401K?
I have a 401K with my old employer and have not done anything with it since I left there almost three years ago. With the current state of the economy, I am hesitant about moving it anywhere. I was thinking about rolling it over into an IRA, but I am not so sure. It's all so confusing. Any advice?
3 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoQuestion about Ebay?
I was just wondering...How many people find that selling items on Ebay is actually more profitable than their regular jobs? I have thought about selling on Ebay, but Im not real sure about it. Im not even sure what I would sell. I just want to make sure of what Im getting into if I do. Any insight is appreciated.
1 AnswerSmall Business1 decade agoWhat are the signs?
I was just wondering...what are the signs of your car's computer going bad? How can you tell when the catalytic converter is stopped up? I have never experienced these and think that one of these two could be my problem. I replaced one of the three coil packs for my car and this did not resolve my issue (see other questions for details). Any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
