  • Wedding ceremony on 5 year anniversary - suggestions?

My husband and I were married by the justice of the peace in 2006. No family was able to attend and we never had a real wedding. We are having a ceremony in the church on our 5 year anniversary with family members present, and I'm undecided whether or not to make it like a full wedding or a small renewal of vows ceremony. I'm just wondering what the traditional renewal of vows ceremonies entail, and if it would be silly at this point to have things like bridesmaids and first dances. Any input would be appreciated!

  • I'm 9 wks and keep spotting every time we have sex?

I've been avoiding sex with DH because each time we've done it over the past few weeks, I've had spotting ranging from red blood immediately after to brown blood for the next two days when I wipe. I had an U/S done last week to confirm that everything was ok and they told me spotting after sex is normal, but it still has me worried. This happened last pregnancy and we were banned from sex when it was still happening in the third tri :( Anyone go through this?

  • What is the best method to remove dried / old urine odor from carpet?

We have a 6 month old Bernese Mountain Dog and potty training with him has been awful because I can't get the urine odor out of our rugs. When he was younger, he peed all over our carpets in our apartment. Though I tried to catch him every time, we missed some and there were a few times that I was out of carpet cleaner and had to resort to just paper towels and water. Needless to say, our carpets smell sooo bad that I don't even want company over! I'm terrified that the landlord will make us replace the rugs ($$$!) and we're having a baby in January. I can't bear the thought of my baby crawling on these rugs in the condition that they're in. There's no stains - only odor. What's the best method to remove OLD urine odor that has soaked into the pad?

  • I THOUGHT it was an evaporation line, but TWICE?

So I'm due for AF on the 19th. I'm 6 days before my missed period today, and I bought a 3 pack of First Response Early Result tests (i really wish they made digital ones for early result!). I took the test (not FMU, it was around 4pm) and a VERY VERY VERY light pink line showed almost immediately. Thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, it was that faint. But there was definitely a line. Checked the test an hour later, the line was still there. Super faint. Checked it again 20 minutes ago, and the line's almost gone, like it's just a faint outline where a pink line WOULD be.

So I just took another test (this is now about 5 hours post-first test). Again, super faint line came up after about 20 seconds, but this one was the tiniest teeniest weensiest bit darker. Still faint. Could it be possible to get an evaporation line TWICE in a row? That would really suck, btw lol.

I know it's super early to test, and wasn't planning on seeing anything, but this weird faint line thing has me freaked. We've been TTC for 9 months now, and this was the first time seeing any sort of line. I will be testing again in the morning. Just trying to see if this has happened to anyone else.

  • House on the market for 2.5 yrs - foreclosure question?

My husband and I purchased a home in May 2006 while he was stationed at Ft Campbell, KY for the Army. He has since gotten out of the military and we've moved back to PA where our families are. We both have promising career jobs up here and going back to KY is not an option.

Our house in KY has been on the market for sale since January of 2008. We had renters in there for a while that wanted to purchase the house, but were never able to get their credit stable enough and they left. The house is vacant and is in need of repairs like a new heating system and gutters, plus regular maintenance like lawn care, etc.

We have been paying the mortgage on the house since we listed it for sale 2.5 yrs ago, and we are forced to live in an apartment up here in PA because we can't afford anything else due to the KY mortgage. We've had enough. Our realtor (this is our third) says the house just isn''t showing well, and we can't drop the price any more. We don't have enough equity or savings to be able to do that.

Now, question is, do we foreclose? There's NO signs of the house selling any time soon, it's draining us financially, and we're never going to see a dime from it even if we do sell it. What would you do?

  • First Response Early Result accuracy at 6 days before period?

I'm due for AF on the 19th. I know the First Response Early Result tests can detect up to 6 days before a missed period (68% +). Has anyone here gotten a positive this early? I want to test today!

  • Need to drop pH drastically, quick. Help!!!?

I mixed kalkwasser for my 90 gallon soon-to-be reef tank. All that's in there is live sand, live rock, and the little critters that hitchhiked (brittle stars, pods, etc). My three year old decided to "help" me and dumped my kalkwasser mix into the tank just 5 minutes after I had mixed it. Everything from the bucket went in the tank, and I have pH readings off the charts. I looked up the pH of kalkwasser, and it's between 12-13!!! Help! I need to get the pH down to 8.3 quickly. I don't think pH Down is going to help me on this one!

  • Cycle day 27, late period, - HPT, extremely wet discharge?

My cycle varies but has been averaging 25 days. I'm day 27 and showing no signs of AF, but took 5 pregnancy tests between cycle days 23-25 which came back negative. Yesterday and today I've had extremely wet, consistent discharge - clear, but not sticky. I've had to wipe in the bathroom like 10 times today because it was just so wet! (sorry TMI) Anyone experience this? I'm usually pretty dry in the days before AF.

  • How the heck am I supposed to get pregnant with irregular cycles?

I have always been a 28 day gal, but since trying to conceive (since last September) my periods have ironically decided to revolt and go completely off track. These are my period dates:

    Sept 3

    Sept 27

    Oct 24

    Nov 23

    Dec 16

    Jan 13

    Feb 6

    Mar 3...

I averaged out the last three months which came to 25 days, which is the cycle length we used to TTC this month. Well, it's day 26 and no period, but no positive test. How the heck can I predict ovulation when my cycle is so erratic? I've tried OTC ovulation kits but you need to know your cycle length to know when to start testing!

  • My anemone keeps falling?

I have a ritteri and a sebae that shed the membrane on their foot and now they fall off any rock I try to put them on within 24 hours. Their tentacles are still sticky but their feet aren't. Otherwise, they are acting completely healthy and eating. Anyone experience this? They literally "shed" the entire membrane that lines their foot, and poof, no more stickiness :O

  • How long can it take for a clownfish to pair with an anemone?

I have 2 ocellaris clownfish that were tank bred. I bought a sebae and a ritteri anemone and the fish haven't paired with either anemone. They have swam on the edges of the ritteri, barely brushing up against it, but refuse to go into the tentacles. The ritteri has been in for about a week. My question is, how long can it take for a clown to pick a host? I know some may never, but I'm just wondering if it's an instant thing or can it take weeks. Thanks!

  • What's the best, most accurate online ovulation calculator?

We've been TTC since September and I was just wondering what online ovulation calculator worked for any of you. I know I can go out and buy a kit, but wondered about the online ones also. I figured it might have worked for at least some of you! : ) Thanks!

  • Does a white marking on the back of the neck of a Bernese disqualify him from the show ring?

My Bernese Mountain Dog (11 wk male) is a gorgeous pup, and I'm not just saying that : ) His vet and several people in the know have told me he's the best looking Berner they've seen. However, he has a small tuft of white hairs (around 15 hairs) on the back of his neck and I want to know if that disqualifies him from conformation competitions. I checked the AKC website breed standards, but all they mentioned was a full white collar. Any idea? Thanks!

  • How do I cite an author with a degree after their name (ie. "MD")?

APA 6th Edition - I have several references where the author of the journal article is an MD or RN. Do I list their title in the reference page after their last name? If so, could I see and example using John Doe, RN, PhD? Thanks!

  • Our new puppy is trying to show dominance over our 2 year old...help!?

We just got an 8 week old Bernese Mountain Dog pup that was obviously the dominant puppy in his litter. We've raised two puppies before, but this little guy's quite different. He bites, gnaws, chews everything, including our hands, feet, clothing, etc. At first we thought it was just the usual puppy bites, but it's gotten to a point of concern. My husband and I are doing our best to curb the behavior, but our two year old son who genuinely just wants to interact with the dog is getting scared of him. If our son tries to pet him or play with him, the puppy will bark loudly at him and go to snap at him. Any suggestions as to how my husband and I can convey to the puppy that he is lower ranked than our son? We have to fix this problem before our Bernese becomes a 110 lb. dominant dog!

  • I have an irregular cycle and have trying to get pregnant for 6 months. How can I tell when I'm ovulating?

My husband and I had our first son with NO problem. I was pregnant on the first try. For the last 6 months we've been trying for baby #2, but all of the sudden my usually-28 day-cycle has become sporadic, ranging from 23-31 days. How can I accurately tell when I'm ovulating, as we've tried all the "right" cycle dates, and it's not working!

  • My aquatic turtles are breeding. What provisions do I need for the female?

My male diamondback terrapin and female red eared slider were just found breeding in the tank. I have a log for their basking platform and 10 inch deep water. Do I need anything special for an egg-laying female (nest box, etc.) and where can I find it? Thanks!

  • What do I tell my hairstylist to get Avril Lavigne's two-toned hair?

Avril Lavigne used to have dark brunette undertones with platinum blond up top (see picture link below). I'd love to get the look - what do I tell my hairstylist in order to get hair that color/style? I've told her a blond foil with dark underneath, but all it did was make the bottom half of my head brunette and the top blond - it doesn't blend, even after long layers were done. Thanks!
