  • Why does my dog act upset when I swat a fly?

My dog is a chow/golden mix 12 years old and spry for her age.

She has never been hit or abused. She walks and plays with me outside every day.

We call her the happy police because she gets upset whenever I cry or raise my voice.

She likes to catch flies and bees when she can and gobbles them up.

But she gets upset when I swat a fly.

    (fly swatter, magazine, newspaper, etc...)

I think it may be the aggressive motion of the swatter and the irony is she would kill the fly herself if she could catch it.

Does anyone have any insight for me?

  • my poem "White Oak" please read?

    Walking down a shady street

I glance down to my feet

    The sidewalk is cracked

    I wonder why

Then I glanced toward the sky

A living symbol, a tower of strength

    Arms stretched at wild length

This fellow here long before I

Looks back at me with joy I cry

    "I love you" I say

    "Can I make amends?"

So I sit down and curl up next to my friend

I read to my companion on sunny days

Played in his brilliance and slept in his shade

A new warm noon, fresh stories to share

My heart stopped, to see his space bare

A tiny acorn, all seems left

And to my knees I feel and I wept

  • outdoor roadside delicious dinning Atlanta to Denver?

I am traveling from Atlanta to Denver at the end of May with my dog. (Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado) I would like to find some good local food (non vegetarian or vegetarian) I can enjoy where my dog can sit outside and have her kibble next to me.

Also, any nice places my dog and I need to check out along the way. Parks, rest stops, etc... we shouldn't miss.
