2 AnswersPC1 week agoHow can I get my Roku soundbar to play the audio and video from older analog sources?
I recently bought a Roku soundbar which works very well, but it doesn't play any other source besides the HDMI input of the Roku itself. I want to be able to stream the audio/video as well as the video from older analog sources like a dvd player. I think there is a device that converts the analog stream to HDMI that seems to work in theory, but wanted to see if any other Roku or soundbar owners have any experience with this?
Home Theatre1 week agoWhat are some Roku private channels that actually work in the US in 2021?
I recently found out after reading a bunch of blogs that you can add a bunch of private channels by entering a code on in your Roku online account and then watch them after you update your device. The problem is, most of the channels on their list don't work in the US. The first one I tried was the Internet Archive, which said something like "this channel has been disabled in your area." The only one that I've been able to work is a hack of Apple podcasts, which is pretty cool but it only streams audio.
Has anyone ever gotten any of the private channels to work and which ones were they?
Other - Electronics1 week agoWhat happens if you have an old trash can in your back yard that's filled with old trash, dirty waste water etc, and you pour it in to...?
It's filthy. It was here when we moved in 2 years ago and now we're finally going to renovate our yard and I need it gone. I's mostly dirty water and liquefied trash now so I thought about pouring it over the fence to the neighbours yard when it's raining, probably he'll never know unless the rain doesn't wash it away. What do you think?
1 AnswerHome Theatre1 week agowhat kind of camera is this?
I live in a condo. One of the neighbors who has made himself a nuisance has installed this on his door, about 3-5 months ago, he got a heavy package about 20 inch x 20 inch x 6 inch and said he would be recording out front. My concern is this particular guy has relentlessly harassed people including make false police reports.
Is it possible that this is just a plate securing a camera that is inside the door positioned where the peep hole would be?
(that white rectangle on top with the 3 screws and what looks like 3 holes on front, possibly others on the side. I didn't want to get too close. According to him, its a crime for me to be outside on my own porch (that we share).
2 AnswersOther - Electronics1 week agoTablet Question for those who use them. Is it worth getting a tablet with phone/text capabilities or is WiFi only a better buy?
Yes I have a cell phone and computer. For those of you who might ask "... well do you need or use text, phone..." I have texted on my older tablet as it is connected to my cell via my wireless plan not a tone, but some.
I also just bought a Samsung S6 lite and I didn't realize it is WIFI only. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to exchange it and spend a little more and get a bit newer and "5G" tablet or just stick with the tablet I purchased.
I'm just looking for opinions to help me rationalize which would be a better purchase in the long run or in general.
1 AnswerOther - Electronics1 week agoReplace dried out grease in a vintage Elgeet 13mm f/1.5?
I got an amazing deal on a “for repair” Elgeet 13mm f/1.5. The problem with this lens is that the focusing mechanism is nearly frozen. Aperture works great.
I was wondering if anyone had a diagram or instructions on how to open this lens and replace the old grease?
Also, what are things that I need to be aware of when I open a lens? I have never done this before.
Lastly, what kind of replacement grease should I use?
Thanks!

1 AnswerTiVO & DVRs1 week agoPhones with a good DAC?
For the past years I’ve been only using LG phones since the existence of the quad DAC that is build inside of most of their phones is just amazing and probably one of the biggest reasons why I never wanted to switch to any other phone company.
Now that LG is retreating from the phone market, I’ve been wondering if there are even any other phones out right now that could rival LG’s quad DAC.
Do you know of any alternative for the future or was LG really the best there is/was when it comes to audio quality?
Plus, do we know if any other companies are planning to bring back the DAC or does it look as if it will eventually vanish from all phones sooner or later?
