How much does it cost to have a shop tighten a motorcycle chain?

I have a 1998 VFR800 that I inherited and I don’t have the tools or the know how to get the thing tightened. It’s pretty loose and I don’t want it to come off.

    Thanks for any help offered.

Is getting a motorcycle worth it?

I’m curious from current riders and veteran riders to know: I’ve been super interested in owning a motorcycle, and experiencing the world of driving a bike. I have been researching bikes for a solid six months now, learning parts and skills that are necessary. But I’ve also been wavered back by family and friends— I was told it’s a arrogant purchase and it isn’t worth the investment or money. However, I’ve been making insanely good money and I could technically afford a bike if I really wanted. But I needed advice to know if it’s truly worth doing or if I should wait a few more years— I want to ride and do it for leisure, just something to cruise with like a Softail Standard. Any guidance or advice?

    10W40 or 20W50?

Summer is upon us.  I just put 20W50 in my air cooled 125cc engine.  I recently purchased a new bike with a 500cc air cooled engine. After break-in. use 20W50 for the summer. or just stick with 10W40 year round.

Some people feel that 50 is too thick for cooler running water cooled bike engines.

    Phat Boy Scooter Brake Caliper?

I am looking for a front brake caliper for my Phat Boy 4 stroke gas scooter with the EH035 Robin Subaru engine. I got the scooter without a caliper so I don’t have anything to compare to. I have found a couple options online but the bolt holes seem to be about 50 mm apart whereas the scooter bolt holes are about 35 mm apart. I can not find a part number either. Any suggestions are appreciated!

What size motorcycle should my next bike be?

I currently own a 2012 kawasaki ninja 250r. I bought it as my first bike, using it to learn on. Im getting pretty comfortable now and was planning on riding it as much as I can the rest of the year. I am already wanting to upgrade to a more powerful bike next year. So what size should the next bike be? I was thinking a Suzuki GSXR 650 or 750 but was curious to hear other people opinions.

Do you feel a motorcycle is good for PTSD?

I just bought and customized my cruiser. It takes my mind off things. I can ride to work and not think about work and things that happened in the past.  Driving my truck or riding the bus frees my mind too much.

    Why don’t cars have pushstarters?

    Favourite answer:

Ford Model T's had a crank starter at the front of the engine.  Lots of people got broken wrists from using them.

2001 Kawasaki Ninja EX500 diagnosis/troubleshooting; starts and idles fine but when given throttle bike dies- help?

I pulled the carbs off and there’s a float that sticks and I have a new carb kit on the way but is this the main culprit or is there other underlying issues that I might want to check out? Any and all possible suggestions or directions as to where I should possibly look would be much appreciated, I want to look it over thoroughly- thanks in advance.

    What's the Problem with Bikers?

All the biker videos on YouTube show bikers breaking all the traffic laws, showing they are a great danger to others and acting like violent thugs - flipping the bird, swearing, yelling, doing damage when they can.   Not one video shows any courtesy or consideration of others.  Not one.

Bled Motorcycle Front Brake and now Dragging?

    Favourite answer:

"Spongy" usually means water turning to vapor when brakes hot. Sometimes, air.  When U bled them, the firmness came back and the stiff O rings to calipers were apparent.

Rebuild  caliper; or at least grease the O rings;  flush entire brake out with fresh Synthetic DOT 4 or better,  bleed..

My  rear brake dragged, I didn't realize it until I went thru entire system.  MC brakes are easy to rebuild/bleed.

Edit: On some bikes, , you need to  "reverse bleed", that is, get a 50 ml syringe, suck it fulla fresh fluid, , attach it to nipple with hose, open nip,  hold  plunger UP so bubbles aren't reintroduced, push to fill  system and force air out. Dont overflow the reservoir. Close nip, pump lever  a few times until no bubbles. Check brake's  feel.

Edit:   SpaceJ, yes, I know. I had an innocent query similar to yours; I was treated like a 12 year old. I am 64; I've fixed  my  'sickles and cages since 1978. One said: "don't grease the rotors".....like, I  Would? I have been maintaining my own since before that Kid was born...
