    Sandeep is correct.

Even numbers can be written as 2k where k is an integer and odd numbers are written as 2k+1 where k is an integer. Since 2*0=0, 0 is even. Note that there is no integer k such that 2k+1=0, so that 0 cannot be odd.

It depends on your perception of the number, however the best answer is neither. The symbol representing a number is not what is important, what is important is the concept that it represents. One is a symbolic representation, but it is also a quantitative concept. Zero can be both a symbol systematically inserted into the series of number symbols, and thus it would be even (2 and -2 are even, 1 and -1 odd, thus 0 is even). But the concept of the number zero is of a complete lack, the concept of nothing and thus it would have no value to which an even or odd characterization could be applied.

Let n be an integer. Then n is even if there exists an integer m such that n = 2*m and n is odd if there exists an integer k such that n = 2*k + 1. A proof is required to show that every number is either even or odd. However, once this is done, one may conclude that 0 is even since 0 = 2 * 0.

Okay, so I am a mathematician and without a doubt we regard 0 as even since it is divisible by 2. What are some good reasons? Well,

for one thing, we like it to be true that an even number minus an even number is even, and an odd number minus an odd number is even. If you take the same number, you get 0.

Believe it or not it would be considered an even number. look at house numbers. Some neighborhoods the odd numbers are on one side of the street and the even numbers are on the other. Also it was in my math book last class.

    0 is an even number.

EVEN NUMBER : Ant number when divided with 2 gives an integer quotient or zero remainder is defined as an even number.

When you divide 0 with 2 it leaves remainder 0. So 0 is an even number for sure.

If you have any doubts, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Even_number

it is not a number, simply a place keeper for other numbers. i.e 10 - the 0 shows that there is a space after the one for another single number

even, technically, every even number is followed by an odd number and vice versa, since 1 is an odd number, zero should be even since it precedes 1.

Zero is technically an even number as it is exactly divisible by 2 without any remainder.

The issue is somewhat unsettled. Mathmaticians generally regard it as neither even nor odd.
