Now if you are talking about the question of Singaporean asking about UK. it can be just a question of curiosity due to the fact that they have not been to UK.

However, if you are meaning to say that people in UK are not reading any books. then the following are my answers

For the fact, People in UK has a higher reading rate than us Singaporean.

They are very fond of reading papers, books, novels etc in the train due to the long train journey.

In their public library systems. the library have the right to assist the members of the public towards public information and knowledge. For eg. If I wanted a book about quantum leap which is not available in any particular library and i happens to know the author and the title of the book. I can approach the librarian to have the book purchased for me and then i can borrow them or have the researched done in the library depending on the cost of the purchase.

On the average, an average englishman reads at least 2 sets of papers daily and they are very very well verse with politics and current affairs.

There are 2 spectrum of people in UK.

One spectrum of people do not like to study and therefore likes to have some form of simple career, trade or skills. However, when these people graduated through the course of their lives, they tends to be very very very good in their work unlike many of our workers here.

I have met train drivers whom is not highly educated but works with British rail for 15 years, knows the extend of sound, speed, velocity impact on the environment to engineering, coupling and decoupling of trains. Their acquisition of knowlegde to enable them to deliver their job with pride in most case are admirable.

Another case was what was your feeling when you go to our neighbourhood police and faces them with some question, How often are they able to answer you to your satisfaction. At the same time, I have met a police bobby. Though in humour, they are well known for asking directions. This is because, they patrol the same street for years and have perhaps very indepth knowledge of the areas under their juridiction. But when you asked them about juveline crime or any legal aspect towards penal code, they are not only able to quote you the section by heart, but also explained to you in legal perspective as well as in the perspective of the criminal, juvenile and also their parents and the victims much to the satisfaction of me. It is from them that I learn that putting someone away and throw away the keys are not as easy when it comes to a country where different people are allow to have free expression of speech and their ability to prosecute someone to the extend that it is beyond reasonable doubt can be admirable.

One may asked then why do they possess such great knowledge in many spectrum of their job to be able to deliver their work with reliability and confidence.

    1) regular training.

    2) they have a good system of mentorship as compared to us in asia

    3) Lots of reading of areas in wide spectrum of interest.

Think about it, if you have seen game shows in UK and you compared to the kind of question that are asked by Media Corps in Singapore. You will but find that not only the question asked by Media Corps are stupid, it also shows the general lack of knowledge in reading, failure of programme director to be able to set the right kind of question, etc

You're not making any sense. Many of the people posting questions are asking if what they read in BOOKS is true. Some people do ask questions without having done any reading on a topic but that does not mean they never read at all.

No. First, seem on the dates of both those guides. 24 years aside. Secondly, what are the context in which those costs are getting used? Thirdly, If those 2 paragraphs were back to back, they say a similar element. the first paragraph says in ordinary words the Vatican, (a christian employer) is allowed to interpret the Bible. the 2d paragraph says that the Bible belongs to a christian employer and in no thanks to persons even with if that diverse believes they could interpret the Bible. Hypocrisy is in outcome not "operating in the direction of what you pontificate". the first get mutually is in ordinary words extra certain on which christian employer is allowed to interpret. No hypocrisy. (through how, i do not belong to both of those faiths, so there is not any favoritism in my answer).
