What is per capital income? Let say in a household, the husband earn $2500 & support 1 wife & 2 children.?

    Also, "capita" means per head, from the Latin. In this case, it means "per person," whether they work or not.

    Capita is also the root word for "capital punishment" (Off with their head!) or "Capital", the city which houses the "heads" of government, or "Capitol", which is the specific building.

    Capital is also, perhaps confusingly, the same name we give to funding which is expended to created a business venture.

It is used as a measure of wealth for a given nation. The average per capita income in the country of Malawi is $596 per year.
