    possibly...

I know of people in the State of Ohio that have had more than 1 DUI and got accepted to the police training academy and have landed jobs with different police forces after graduation..

You should call your local department and inquire how many years you have to wait untill your DUI clears before you can be accepted into the training program..

In most law enforcement agencies I would say no way, but in Chicago I have heard it is all about who you know. Pretty crooked city. If you have a DUI, you may not be a cop but you could possibly be a probation officer. Maybe if you have gone several years w/o any additional DUI convictions you could. Good Luck ;-)

ignore approximately Mr. Goodhi, he's often incorrect. The coverage on the subject of hiring officers with DUIs varies from branch to branch. some say no DUIs in any respect, some say a million is acceptable, yet not extra. you will could learn the coverage of the companies you prefer to prepare at, often that info is obtainable on their internet site. besides the undeniable fact that, bear in mind that whether one DUI is acceptable, it is going to placed you at a downside in the hiring technique. If somebody else applies and is purely as qualified as you yet he would not have a DUI on his checklist, he's gonna get the pastime over you.

Realistically you have to be a cop and then get the DUI. the police unions stand behind cops no matter what. It could be done but do you really want to be a flatlander cop? Stay up north if you have already been nailed for the big ticket once you'll fit right in.

Yes you can! I am a Sheriff Dispatcher in Wisconsin. But it may also depend on how long ago this happened too. It stays on your record for damn near ever.

If it was say 10 years ago, and you haven't had any negative contacts resulting points taken off of your driving record since then, you should be good to go.

You cannot have any FELONY charges on your record. But they may or may not over look it. I wish you luck.

    How long ago was it?

If it was more then 5 years ago. Your chances are decent. Everyone makes mistakes. It will certainly be a black mark in your background though.

If it was less then 5 years ago, it could possibly be disqualifying with bigger departments since they can be a bit more picky then smaller ones.

With my PD, you can't have a DWI within three years of applying and 2 or more is a DQ.

Call a chicago recruiter and ask.

Yes. It just has to be a certain amount of years since it happened.

Depends on how long ago it has been, and what your record looks like now.

Sure it shouldn't matter....the rules don't apply to you once you become a cop anyway.

    I wouldn't plan on it.
