How do you rehearse images to transfer it to long term memory?

I know this is done for verbal information and it works fine.

I was trying to 'rehearse' a split second image of a picture from my handphone while looking at it in the dark, but slowly the image faded away. I tried to 'rehearse' it but apparently i dont know how

I would look at the top left part of the image and pick out one detail that I could remember.

Remove the picture from the screen for a second, bring it back up, and then concentrate on the top right part of the image.

Repeat these steps for the lower right, the lower left and then the center of the picture.

Then, bring the image up and concentrate on the complete picture and imagine how those five parts fit into the overall image.

Then, repeat the whole cycle several times. The image should transfer to your long term memory.
