    Are you overweight?

It might be chronic bursitits; I've had that before and all it took was a shot of analgesic under my knee cap and i was back to normal.

Or you migh have strained a tendon or ligament.

Either way, if it hurts, you need to seek medical attention.

I have no schooling but i work as a physical therapist technician and we have lots of knee patients complaining of the same thing. In some cases it can be over use or a stressed hamstring tendon where the origin connects to the inner knee. Ibuprofen is good cause its a non inflamatory and the best thing to do would be to favor the other knee for a bit and work on moving your knee up and down when your in a chair or sitting on a couch somewhere where there will not be any stress on the tendon. once again i'm not a pro but i told you best i could diagnose good luck i hate seeing active people brought down by sensless injurys. sometimes crap just gives out for a bit.
