Are Biofuels a good thing?

I'd like to use your answers in the Big Biofuels Blog. I've asked the same question in a different place and I thought it would be interesting to see what cutting edge web users like us thought about it.

The problem is not supply, we have plenty of it. The problem is with distribution. There are millions of bushels of grain sitting in silos and rotting away every year in every state of this country. Put all that grain to good use and you can end world hunger, fuel cars and still have some left.

But yes, biofuel is a good idea. It's about time that the oil companies face some competition.

in my opinion yes but i watched a car show on saturday afternoon that said that using french fry oil for fuel would cause buildup in the fuel system so ues for the enviornment but not so sure about what it would do for the life of the vehicle guess we will have to take the wait and see approach as ppl use it more and we have a study conducted revealing the outcome, good luck in your answer search!

in the short run maybe, but ultimately it will start affecting the food crop pattern world over & may lead to food scarcity in the long run.
