Please listen to Ellenvega. She gave you very good advice. The only way to guarantee a healthy pig is to adopt from a rescue. Pet store pigs are (sadly) almost always ill or have parasites.

Get your pig from a reputable rescue if you want guaranteed health. Otherwise, remember that guineas are a prey animal and are very accomplished at hiding potential illnesses. Having a vet check the animal would be a good way to go.

Also, be aware that petstore pigs are notorious for harboring illnesses like mange mites or upper respiratory infections, not to mention they are often mis-sexed and pregnancies are common.

    That's easy!

    1. Clean fur.

    2. Clean nose.

    3. Pink feet.

    4. Moving around friendly.

    5. Clean eyes.

Check their eyes to make sure they are not cloudy and do not have any discharge coming out of them. Examine their fur to make sure there are no bald or irritated looking spots. They should also be active and look generally healthy.
