By the way, according to the Muslims, all those who believe in the God of Abraham are Muslims.

Now, the million dollar question, which you asked, is - "Why the need to convert?"

I once asked a Muslim if he affirmed that there was no God but God and he said, of course! Then, I asked him that if this were so, then which God was it that he wanted to punish all "infidels" for worshiping?

Muslim, means one who submits to the will of God. Abraham was a true monotheist, same as Moses and Jesus [ Peace be upon them all],

We know that the first commandment is, "The Creator Is The Only True God"

This claim to fight all infidels is nonsense, unfortunately you get a twisted interpretation from people with weak knowledge.

In the Qu'ran it states

[002.190] And fight in the way of Allâh those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allâh likes not the transgressors.

[This Verse is the first one that was revealed in connection with Jihâd, but it was supplemented by another (V.9:36)].

So essentially the verses in the Qu'ran that state about fighting was because there were alot of Pagans who used to be adamantly against Muhammad [peace be upon him], and the message he was telling the people to not worship idols but to worship God All-Mighty.

It also states,

[002.256] There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Tâghût and believes in Allâh, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

(V.2:256) The word Tâghût covers a wide range of meanings: It means anything worshipped other than the Real God (Allâh), i.e. all the false deities. It may be satan, devils, idols, stones, sun, stars, angels, human beings, who were falsely worshipped and taken as Tâghût. Likewise saints, graves, rulers and leaders are falsely worshipped and wrongly followed but the one who does not accept to be worshipped, will not be considered as a Tâghût. Sometimes Tâghût means a false judge who gives a false judgement (See V.4:60). [See Tafsir Ibn Kathir; and (V.4:51)].

So in countries where you are allowed to practice your religion without persecution, like in America or Canada and even Europe you cannot try to fight and kill people, that is wrong.

You have to define Submission to God... submission to God is not just believeing he is there .. but also following what he commanded you to do.

God could not have sent religions in such variety .. it was always the same .. people corrupted it for various reasons. Sometimes they gave so much reverence to their prophets that they turned them into God. Othertimes .. they couldnt refrain from going back to their old stuff .. once the prophet left.

About fighting .. its just a western media propoganda that people have come to believe in. Muslims are told to propogate or preach their religion because they are made the vicegerents on earth and they will be held responsible for it on the day of judgement. If a non muslim claims that the message never reached them .. then the muslim who was in contact with him in the world will be asked for it .. and will be punished too.

Quran says there is no compulsion in religion .. therefore Islam is never preached on the point of sword (or gun :P), whosoever does it .. does it wrong. That is why you see so many muslims coming on tv and radio and tryin to tell u about islam instead of going out with a gun. People with guns have political problems .. and media loves to make them famous as "muslims".

When a Christian does something .. u either hear his name or country .. do u ever get to hear his religion?

Islam allows muslims to fight oppression and thats the only time when it can attack another country and then too it warns them not to transgress boundries .. which the western world of today forgets and then complain muslims are hating them.

Lastly, the ayaats in Quran that the media loves to quote abt the infidles were the ones who threw them out of makkah ... and Allah (SWT) told them to go back to their land now that they were more in number. For an explaination on this ... watch the movie "The message".

Edit : Did you ever consider it doesnt HAVE to be muslims to do bad stuff "in the name of Allah"? IF someone does it .. they maybe brainwashed too .. but who knows who is controlling all that stuff,

You dont judge religion by its people .. you judge it throu its revelation. You should take time to find out these stuff yourself.

I have also seen a serial killer, i think it was a very old issue of reader's digest, where he used to kill and walk around holding bible in his hand. Even at the trial he refused to let go of it.. and according to him .. it was his religious mission. We dont make it an issue because we know its not the case.

Other than this .. sometimes some reactions are purely emotional based, If you go disrupt someone's home .. kill their family .. do bad stuff to their daughters .. you leave that person broken and insane. These people are very suseptible to take revenge even at the cost of their lives.

Islam also tells you to guard you possessions and belongings, and you would agree with me im sure, that its very rational.

I have no idea what happening or who is doing it .. its a complete chaos over there.. but Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah) I know that islam doesnt allow this blind killing. In Islam its very strictly prohibited to hurt women, children, old and sick in wartimes too.

God sent messengers to convey his message ...so "submit to God " ..means submit to the true God ...to the true Comanmants of God ....

those who worship idols are not submitting to God even they claim to ...

those who worship Jesus the human are not submitting to God even they claim to ....

those who Kill innocent people saying this is how they submit to God are wrong ..coz they r not applying the true commandmants of God ...

dear friend you have a great misconception about Jihad ..you think that Islam teaches " if they don't want to be muslims then kill them !!"

and this is not true !!

Islam teaches tolerance ...Allah says in the quran "There is no compulsion in religion"

so why we need war ??

war is needed to protect the weak and the opressed people ...war is need for self defence ...

fight in the cause of justice ,,,to remove the evil and the opressors ..and so on

and there are war ETHICS that were established by Islam 1400 years ago :

In all his battles, the Prophet (SAWS) advised the army leaders and said, "Go ahead in the name of Allah, and by the blessing of his Messenger. Don't kill an old man, or a child, or a young person or a woman. Don't betray. Act in the Right way, and do good, truly Allah loves the good-doers". And He (SAWS) forbade also mutilating dead bodies as he said: " I warn you of mutilating the killed, even if it was a slaughter dog". He (SAWS) said also: " Don't kill women, or children, or those who are in the monasteries."

And also says “Beware! Whoever is cruel and hard on a non-Muslim minority, or curtails their rights, or burdens them with more than they can bear, or takes anything from them against their free will; I (Prophet Muhammad) will complain against the person on the Day of Judgment.” (Abu Dawud)

it is a proven fact that all holy books except the Qur'an have been altered by human hand....therefore it cannot be holy anymore ....following a book is for the purpose of worshipping God....and if you were to follow what was written by human hand than it is equivalent to submitting to the ones who have altered it according to there whims and desires and personal preference....Islam is the only monotheistic religion today....christian asscociated Jesus with divinity and jews associate uzair with the like....." there is no compulsion in religion" Surah Baqarah-256

islam means peace and it also means submission your will to the one and true GOD (ALLAH) .

ABRAHAM ,MOSES ,NOE ,JESUS AARON , MUHAMMAD , peace be upon them were all muslims .
