Vacation...Vietnam or Thailand?

Planning to go to Southeast Asia in a few months for vacation. Trying to decide between Northern Vietnam or Northern Thailand and trying to squeeze in a side trip to either Laos or Cambodia. Not into beaches, more culture and sites. Probably renting motorbikes to tour. Which would you choose and why?

I never been to Vietnam, but wouldn't mind to go there for vacation, Thailand I have been many times, they are friendly and the cost of the travel is cheap but over the years I kinda gotten bored of going to Thailand.

At the moment Thailand has political trouble, I would choose Vietnam.

Vietnam, that's my choice because Vietnamese people (women & men) are both more beautiful and polite. I have a Thai boyfriend, so I know many things about Thailand that I don't want to tell you...you know?

Vietnam is better and safer, more cultural (because you are going to the Northern, so pick Hanoi for example). Things in Vietnam are cheaper to buy, too.

The hat you are wearing in your avatar is Vietnamese hat, too ^^
