It happened to my friend, also in Canada. It's called theft under $5,000. If she has no previous record, her conviction will probably be STAYED, meaning she will not a permanent record. But she will be directed to do a certain amount of community service, write a apology letter to Zellers and probably will be banned from the store for life.If she steals again, she will have a record automatically. If she tries to go to any Zellers, so could be charged with trespassing. If this is her first time, chances are she won't shoplift again. It would be a big wakeup call for her.

She is banned from the store....and now has a record, and all because of 20 stupid dollars, of MAKE UP!

Sounds like she needs to grow up a little bit....even if she is 22 like you said.

I'm 22 and that wouldn't even cross my mind!

It's a shame that the first offence doesn't carry mandatory jail time. The girl is a lousy thief!!
