Depends on the job but here are some basics. I've had open positions where I've chosen the cadidate who interviewed via telephone over candidates who interviewed in person. Done right they have some advantages. I've conducted quite a few so here is what I've noticed.
-Make sure you are prepared for the call by having a quiet place to conduct the interview. Background noise or interruptions are very distracting.
-Don't use speakerphone, the interviewer can, but not you.
-Have notes prepared, An advantage on being on a phone interview is that you can have notes in front of you besides your resume (they have that already) Having articulate responses to common interview questions can make you sound great. Its even better if you can get the questions in advance which some interviewers will do if you ask.
-Relax, since you aren't meeting in person, you should be able to relax and compose yourself before the call so you sound as if you are a calm, collected individual. This can also be a bonus.

I'm a journalist and this is my general technique (all while writing with the spare hand).
Well what I do is I ask a few basic background questions before I plunge into the real knee-jerk questions. Its good to get your interviewee to repeat themselves as well to get everything down if you ask similar questions.
Ask for anecdotes because you can use that material in future stories and make sure you get them to spell out all names so you don't make any mistakes and upset anybody when you transcribe.
Generally learn to relax and talk to them like you know them a little already. And where possible research them and what they do so you don't ask any stupid questions, if you do that then they'll just clam up because they think you're stupid.

(I am answering this in regards to a phone job interview.)
They will ask you questions which show you have the knowledge needed for the position.
You should research the company, and ask them a question based on what you know about the company. If not, ask them something like "what is one of the biggest challenges facing your company or industry?"

i discover it is effective with interviews of direction on no account communicate undesirable approximately your present day activity in the event that they ask you why you desire to go away merely say i'm seeking to enhance myself or on some line like that and on the tip of the interview that's often intense-high quality to throw a question there way like what are you searching for in a sparkling worker or some thing in that line it makes them think of your relatively fascinated interior the activity better of luck
