Why do I have mad anxiety when I stop drinking?

They gave me a prescription of Ativan (1 mg) to help with the withdrawals but i still feel so anxious that I have to resort to drinking again. I'm talking anxiety so strong you can't even brush your hair or do anything...

All I can tell you is that I gave up drinking 17 years ago and I feel that that is when my life began.

It may sound corny but AA works.

You can be under going something stress full at the time or maybe just suffering from an addiction (as scary as that sounds.)its extremely hard to stop cold turkey, so try drinking less and less, and the attacks wont be as bad and you wont need to drink anymore :)

mixing your meds with alcohol is very dangerous. have u recieved counseling.. are you taking healthy steps in your life to avoid drinkning by seeking alternate activities, friends, and habits that are similar to those you use to drink foror around.. you diet of pills and booze is very addicting and can kill you.. i would seek alternative assistance.. maybe an intreatment program..
