What is good to use to keep squirrels away from flowers?
I don't want to hurt them, but those critters are mean, they bite off rosebuds, and bite lily stems, and ruin them before they ever open.
A natural deterrent would be great, as well as something I could make at home. Thank you all very much for your suggestions. I really do appreciate it.
I won't be feeding them to encourage their stay or family plan. Squirrels are more aggressive than they used to be. One chewed threw my sisters kitchen screen and back out. While she called animal control. People feeding them is not helpful. It also feeds everything else that wants foods, including mice, bugs, rats,dogs, etc...

put out squirrel food for them to eat..that is what I did when they were eating my bird food and it worked.

Make a spray from some horticultural oil, water, and some tabasco sauce. Trust me, squirrels don't like the taste of hot pepper. It won't hurt them, and will discourage them, and many other critters, from eating your plants. The downside is that you need a sprayer and you have to respray after every rain.
