PS3 console help? 4 anyone who had a ps3 long.?
Oh also my ps3 still turns on and works minus the game freeze (even the demos still play w/o the freeze)
Okay so I updated my store update to the most recent one. And strangely enough now whenever I play a ps3 game the audio begins to cut out in like 15 mins (although I can still play the game until it freezes). Now I have backwards ps2 capability and those games still work.
I even cleaned my ps3 thoroughly (for the 1st time in 1.5 years of owning it although I don't play it 24/7--- more like 2 to 3 hrs a week tops. And by thoroughly I cleaned the inside out too with compressed air)
And yes my warranty expired (just did as of Feb 09).
Anyone can tell me what happened I think it might be a software update glitch or maybe my blu-ray drive just showing signs of death.
Oh I have an 80 gb by the way. If anyone had this happened to them I'd really appreciate it. =D

Software updates don't cause PS3 problems all that often unless you quit or shut down the PS3 during the process, and this usually causes hard drive issues anyway. Its rare to have a Sony update be problematic also. Sony would remove it right away and force users to download the previous update/remove the newer one (I think this has only happened once in the PS3 history).
I think the laser is starting to go or it may just be dirty. You could try using a Blu-Ray lens cleaner. I know you cleaned your PS3, but you gotta do it more often than once a year to really prevent any sort of problems caused by dust buildup. When the lens starts to go out, it tends to have issues playing Blu-Ray discs, but not necessarily other disc types like DVD Video/ROM or CDs.

the 60 and 80 gig ps3's have 4 usb ports. so for you to be rocking a 40 gig. to play each and all the intruments you will ought to purchase a hub that turns one usb port into 4. gamestop sells a rockband kind version of this for like 20.00 or much less. or you could attempt to discover an identical style set up. different than which you are going to basically have the flexibility to play 2 instruments at a time.

will it happen to me bfor but I send it to fixing right away didn’t bother and Software updates don't cause problems it doesn't mater how much you play with it you have to client every like 6-7 mothers [am cleaning freak] or use a Blu-Ray lens cleaner do like me have some professional help don’t mess with it

No its nothing to do with the update, i just updated mine and it works fine. check your game disks for scratches also doews it play normal Blu-ray disks?
you may have to get it professionally looked at

Check the disc, if thats ok, contact Sony.

I WOULD SAY ITS THE UPDATE BECAUSE I DID A UPDATE AN IT WAS LIKE YOU AN MANILY I PLAY FOOTY/SOCCER SO I KNEW IT COULDNT BE OVER HEATED

i dont think it would be softwere, does it get hot? or you may have to just change leads
