My dog was diagnosed with diabetes today!! :) HELP ME?

I'm so depressed with this news! HELP HELP!!!

I took my dog to the VET today, cause I noticed that he is been drinking more water than usual. Vet test him and waited there for the results they took blood test and urine test too.

Results came out what I didn’t expected WOW..WOW.. My heart was too sad to hear something like that and the process. Well besides the price and he need to be on the hospital for 3 days put him to normal and then after doing the insulin our self. I don’t know what to do because I myself take many medication and I so bad on managing my pills I skip them or forget about it. So now with this dog been like this I don’t know what is the best option. They told me that even after controlling his insulin he could still come blind after that another part I would not like too it coming.

Is there any other way to fix him to make it better by controlling his insulting how long does dog go blind? Do you have a dog that had that or has it how long you him been diabetic? and how expensive come too so tell me everything you need to know.

Blood temp is now 500

How long they live with insulin given.

How expensive could come out to be a year?

How soon they go blind even with insulin give with time?

Any good food to give and treats?

What is the best option for a dog like this?

Putting him to sleep will be the best option for his suffer??? :((

Sorry if I wrote kind wrong I’m not feeling good at all after this news.

Update:

The results came out to be 577 not 500

First of all these are all questions you need to be asking your vet, take this list and ask them. Diabetes is not the end of the world, my friends cat was diagnosed with diabetes and she has to give the cat an insulin shot every 12 hours after she's eaten, since it was caught early and she wasn't showing signs of diabetes she will be able to manage it with diet only.

If you are lousy at managing your pills you better be able to manage your dogs diabetes because if you don't the dog will go blind and probably die. If the dog goes blind it's forever it's not a temporary thing that goes away once you start the shots back up regularly, nope, you fail to give the shots and your dog will get sicker.

He's not suffering, animals with diabetes go on to live perfectly normal lives, hence a little shorter that animals without diabetes. The cost is a lot I'm afraid, there's the insulin, the needles and you'll be expected to bring the dog in to the vet each month to monitor his blood sugar level and more or less frequently depending on how he's doing.

It's best to discuss ongoing treatment and care with your vet and make sure that you are comfortable with giving him shots, the vet will show you how to give the shots.

Good luck, sorry to hear about your dog.

Type 2 diabetes, usually referred to as adult onset, is when your body produces insulin but can not use it properly. This type can be treated successfully with the right diet and exercise in most circumstances. Read here https://tr.im/5DNNl

If blood sugars are not kept under control at some point insulin will probably be integrated / oral medications are also available. People with diabetes can live long, happy lives but must be diligent in their care and make sure you see your endocrinologist on a regular basis.

Dogs can live years with proper insulin treatment and blood sugar regulation.

It can be somewhat expensive with blood tests at the vet and insulin. Probably about 500 per year at minimum.

It is difficult to tell when they will go blind. Some dogs become blind within weeks of diagnosis while others never go blind.

Your veterinarian will recommend the proper food and treats for your dog.

Sometimes they can be managed with only one shot per day of insulin which is a minimal committment.

Euthanasia (putting to sleep) is an option if you feel you cannot manage his disease properly. There are also rescue groups for pets with illnesses.
