I guess it'd be very hard for anyone to trace their ancestry back to the Moabites after that.

The accurate fulfillment of the prophecies concerning Moab cannot be denied. Centuries ago the Moabites ceased to exist as a people. Jer. 48:42, “‘And Mo′ab will certainly be annihilated from being a people, for it is against Jehovah that he has put on great airs.'"

The sole explanation for the disappearance of the Moabites as a people is provided by the Bible. Noted the 1959 edition of the 'Encyclopaedia Britannica' (Vol. 15, p. 629): “Israel remained a great power while Moab disappeared. It is true that Moab was continuously hard pressed by desert hordes; the exposed condition of the land is emphasized by the chains of ruined forts and castles which even the Romans were compelled to construct. But the explanation is to be found within Israel itself, and especially in the work of the prophets.”

There is no nation or nationality of Moabites, but don't forget who Ruth was, she is of the seed line that Christ came through, Ruth was a Moabite. The Moab nation came from the two daughters of Lot, both had boys from these two came the Moabite Nation, & as Vot said the Moabites was a nation that was to be destroyed for their opposition against the chosen Nation of Israel.

In the Insight on the Scriptures Vol 2, pg 422, it says that Moabites ceased to exist as a people. What are considered to have been Moabite cities are represented by ruins and other city cites are unknown.

So as far as we know, there are no evidence of Moabites living to either under the name of Moabites or any other name.

This was in fullfillment of the prophecy recorded at Jeremiah 48:42.

Of course she joined the nation of Israel Before Jehovah declared destruction for the Moabites.
