Christians and non Christians alike enjoy getting into the spirit of Christmas.

Which spirit shall we get into? The spirit of the highest rate of depression, or highest rate of binge drinking, or the highest rate of domestic violence or the highest rate of road toll during the Christmas period. Or shall we get into the highest rate of credit card debt run up during the Christmas spirit resulting from extreme wastfullness, all thanks to satan hohoho, oops, you like to call him santa don’t you? This yukky old man sitting little kids on his lap promising pressies if they do as they’re told. Twisted.

So at Jesus pretend birthday party we lie to our kids and instead of presenting Jesus with gifts such as feeding the hungry, taking care of the poor, orphans, widows, sick and prisoners, we indulge ourselves to the point of getting completely wasted in many different ways.

This pagan feast (no-one knows about the true birthdate of Jesus, nor does any one care) it’s all about the spirit, isn’t it? What spirit was that again? Oh that's right, the spirit of feeling holy once a year for christians and non christians alike.

Jesus birth date is not mentioned in the bible, the only birth days mentioned in the bible is the one where John the Baptists head was presented on a platter on a king’s birthday, a bakers head was hung by another king on his birthday, Job’s children perished at a birth day party and one of the prophets cursed the day he was born. The bible is not big on birthdays. Pagans used to celebrate birthdays with cakes and candles offered to their gods.

This pagan celebration christmas is derived from, is however mentioned in the bible with dire consequences for those 'holy ones' celebrating around one tree in the midst eating pork and ham. isa 66:17

To finish it off nicely, the meaning of the word Christmas is Christ dismissal. Yes really.

    Ready to party anyone?

well for the sake of commercialism and materialism it's pretty much alive ,..ugly ridiculously expensive bags to purchase as requested gifts, handing out gift cards so I won't be blamed for buying lame gifts.....: ) typical Xmas.....

I hate to be a killjoy, if Christ was born on December in Bethlehem on a barn, it must' be been SNOWING , maybe Christ wasn't born on deember, nobody could probably guess it right.

Anyway in the spirit of true Christmas... There are 365 days in a year.... A good deed, a kind act daily would keep the spirit of Christmas Alive. When I go home I will visit a charity ward and hand out some gifts...like the 3 kings did. I may not be a king, might as well try to be like one.

Whew, that spells alleviation!!! OMG wait, i've got merely chanced on yet another extra beneficial and extra trouble-free answer... merely hit the refresh button and a various non-annoying advert will seem on the internet site!!! once you're making use of the main answer to view the record of questions, merely hit refresh top away so which you do no longer lose the lineup.

None. Yeah I know you'll probably thinking of me as one of the Scrooges but no I am not. I was born and raised with two conflicting religions in our family and I was constantly in the middle. Back then we used to celebrate Christmas with lots of foods, we also went to early masses and faithfully obey the 9-day rule, we also had family gatherings here and there but all of it was lost because relgion and that's why from that point on Christmas was nothing but just an ordinary day to me.

    added:

Oh! "How much"? What do you mean by that? Is it in terms of money? Could you please clarify this to me? Thanks in advance!! Haha!

Source(s): With what's happening to our family and to this country as well, I don't think X-mas will bring cheers to my heart again. I wish that I never had celebrated X-mas like the way our family celebrated it before. Christmas becomes Christmas when it's already Dec. 25 to most people. And I'm hoping that one day people will think of Christmas as not a day for eating foods, opening gifts, going out, gatherings, parties but a day that where the whole world is at peace...just for a day.

it's very much alive among the children. they have made their letters to santa and they are behaving like angels because they don't want to be in the naughty list.

for some adults it could already be dead or dying. there's the recession, the wars, and the frequent natural disasters - happening all over the world. but now is not the time for doom and gloom.

let's keep the spirit of christmas alive. say a prayer for peace - in our families, in our countries, for the world. but most importantly, for ourselves. things will get better.

I am happy and the Christmas music always makes me light hearted. I love everything about the Christmas season. I love to see all the happy children in the malls with their parents. I love seeing couples together as they shop, dine, and just stroll together.

the cynical people of this world probably can longer feel what the season is all about. it is more than just the opening of gifts come christmas morning and the noche buena shared with family from near and far. to me, christmas is another word for HOPE. the Child is born. indeed there is hope for mankind.

so what if money is very tight; so what if there's no new outfit to wear. the spirit of christmas lives within us if we only open our eyes to the goodness around us. all is not lost.

i feel sad for the cynics...

    merry christmas!
