If the people in Maguindanao think it is appropriate and they obviously do then I am for it. The bishops in Manila complain about the President declaring Martial law for the area, but the bishops in the area welcomed it. All too often the people in Manila think they are the Philippines and they speak for all the people of the Philippines and they do not.

WRONG. Martial law in Maguindanao only? Why only in Maguindanao? If martial law should be implemented it should be in the whole Mindanao area not just Maguindanao. The question is would the people of Mindanao will agree on this issue? Naturally no. Most people are afraid of militarism in this area of the Philippines because of past experiences with the military or AFP personnel.

WHY WOULD SOMEONE like the President go for martial law in Maguindanao because of the Ampatuans? This will bring bad images on the part of the Philippines to the entire world. We are already suffering from bad publicity out of the present regime of Gloria I hope she will not succumb to such lowly advice to impose martial law on Maguindanao.

I FOR ONE WOULDN'T GO for another martial law. We already had one during the time of the late Pres. Marcos in 1972. We are tired of martial law. If the answer to the massacre they are looking for then investigate and find proof and witnesses and resolved the case at hand but not to the extent of imposing another martial law, as if Mindanao area is like Lebanon or Afghanistan that the Philippines government is imposing such martial law there. This is a serious matter to the outside world in the time we are enticing investors to the Philippines suddenly martial law in Maguindanao? Who do you think will invest in the Philippines after this? THIS IS TALANGKA MENTALITY on imposing martial law.

Yes it is the only way to control the ruthless people who seek to terrorize the population with violence and threats of violence.

Continue to put pressure on them by rounding up suspects and continued search for arms cache. This should not be such a difficult task to undertake. Isn't that what the military is for? Since the Philippines does not have a National Guard and there is no threat of an invasion from a foreign country, this should not be such a difficult military exercise. Just be as persistent as the enemy and don't let up.

The imposition of martial law in areas of severe lawlessness is, I think, appropriate. The law attempts to restrict citizens of certain rights guaranteed under the Constitution, such as freedom of movement, the right to criticize the government, even the right to free speech. The enforcers are the national police.

APPROPRIATE. But it should be applied to ALL Warlords and terrorist groups in Mindanao like Abu sayyaf, MNLF, MILF.

Remember the AMPATUANS were given Weapons and Ammunitions by the Govt. as evidenced by the weapons from the govt. Arsenal Via Gilbert teodoros DND. The culprits in the govt. Should be held accountable. They Armed the ampatuans,.

Why are you asking this question? We all have the same answers, the only ones who will have a different opinion on the matter are the Ampatuans.
