To the best of my knowledge, children used to hang stockings on their beds' frame - so that Santa would see the child and decide what is the best gift for him, or her !

...Hanging stockings on the Christmas tree was not considered 'practical (!), as, in his hurry, Santa might get confused as to which stocking belongs to which child !

And yes, children who aren't worldly-wise and cynical as yet, do still hang their stockings.

    :-))

A Very Merry and Happy Christmas to you too, Annabelle !

The big boxes of the gifts (box lang ang malaki hehe) won't fit the stockings. So the gifts just magically appear where it is least expected. The only stockings that hang here are the ones left to dry in the shower curtain rod. One must be careful not to make 'pakialam' them. LOL!

Merry Christmas to you too Kapatid AP! I am sure the grandkids will get wonderful presents from Lola!

I did when I was a child. I waited for Santa Claus too, I often fell asleep and when I woke..there were many presents under and near the Christmas tree. Yes there is a Santa.

i'm still a child at heart myself but i never did that. believe in all that bunch of crap.

i have this officemate though whose kids still believe in santa and she's doing nothing to enlighten them. i don't like people who go to extreme measures just to deceive others (especially kids). come on, kids don't know better, it should be the parent's responsibility to teach their kids the right things, fortify them with facts, help build their foundation. not feed their young and hungry minds with pack of lies.

There are no kids in the house. My daughter is 16 and she knows about Santa now.
