what's wrong with my zippo lighter?

recently i've gotten a zippo lighter and everytime i try to do the 'squeeze' thing or try to open the cap, the thing inside(the one with the fuel thing) keeps coming out, is there anything i can do?

    I always thought if you contact zippo they will fix the lighter for free. google the zippo site,hopefully they can help you.good luck

    Open it up until your even beneath the striker, there should be a white pad thingy on top of the lighter fluid. Maybe the pad is soaked with lighter fluid or some other thing is wrong with it like leaking. In any case you can buy extra pads, wicks and lighter fluid for it and replace what you need for cheap. If you are sure there is nothing wrong with these things then hmm, take it in to a somewhere that sells zippo's. Garunteed there is the guy that knows every thing there is to know about lighters and is the master of all when it comes to zippo's.
